Anyone noticed the weird comparisons there are between Shannon and Bradley Nowell (the singer from Sublime)? There's obviously not much connecting them musically, but I saw the Sublime "Behind The Music" from years ago and it seemed like the story lines of Blind Melon's and Sublime's were similar near the end.
Shannon died in '95 and Nowell died in '96. Both were very unique live performers. Obviously the addictions were similar (both did heroin, one died of that and the other cocaine). Both had a 3-4 month old child when they died. Both died on tour (one on the bus and one in the hotel room). Both died at the age of 28. I guess these distinctions could be made from any rock 'n' roll front man who died young but these 2 were eerie to me...

Though I wont elaborate much on the similarities between these two Masterminds, I will say that reading this post did set my Mind into Motion on another Level, and I soon Found Myself Pondering this question...
Can You Imagine what it would have been Like to Have spent just 1 Night Partying with these two togethor? Those two in the same room togethor? Wow...Talk about Energy.

Hahaa. I have fantasized before about "what if those 2 did a song together and nobody knew about it and then it surfaced and it was just a bomb ass song." Haha, a man can dream though.. a man can dream.

I've been thinking about that ever since it happened, really--and, in addition, Kurt Cobain. All three left behind kids who will never know their fathers, a few patched-together posthumous albums, and countless broken-hearted fans. I am a big Sublime and Blind Melon fan, and have seen both bands in concert with their new singers (as well as Alice in Chains) and I think that Sublime with Rome is the closer to its original incarnation than new Blind Melon or new AIC. Either way, as a bass and guitar player, I know that a band is a lot more than its singer, and just as Sublime would have been hopeless without Eric Wilson or Bud Gaugh, just as AIC would have been without Jerry Cantrell, Blind Melon would have never been the same without Brad, Glen, Rogers or CT. We love you guys, and cant' wait for the next Blind Melon album!
