Hello.
New member from Norway. First saw Blind Melon on MTV with "No Rain" as a 13 year old. Been a fan ever since. Have played that song on every party I've attended.
- Love the music, really sad that the band never got to keep on!
But have eased the pain with Unified Theory , Abandon Jalopy and Extra Virgin.
-Didn't go to work the day "For My Friends" came to the local record shop. Sad to see the the guys and Travis split, but hopefull that these new dates will be the start of something permanent.
Melon music should be out there, played live by the people who made it; so that more people get to hear their great songs and so that Shannon's memory will live on through the music.
-have never seen them live, but fingers crossed!!!
-Favourite songs: hard to pick just one but to name a few: No rain is special (as it was the first I heard), Soup (wow!!), Sleepyhouse, I wonder, For my friends, Wishing Well, Toes across the floor, walk, Change, soul one, all that i need.......
-Favourite Melon memory; never seen them live, but this one brings a smile to my face; trip to a summer house with good friends from university, party all night, lots of great music played, great wine, beer, night slowly becomes morning, the sun is about to rise, only two of us still awake and I pick an album out of my bag, put on track nr 9. "No time frame, for what I need to do today, here at the Yellowhouse". The soothing sounds of Sleepyhouse fills the air as the sun slowly rises. And the other person by my side, also turn out to be a Melon Head. So we sit there, drink our beer and talk about how big the band could have gotten, and how sad it is that it ended so soon. And also how sad it is, that so few (at least in Norway) have heard them. But we also smile when we think about how good this music, these songs make us feel. It's like we know this big big secret, that no-one else knows.
well.....I was going to make this introduction on the forum short. But as always when I start to talk to people about Melon I just go on and on.
I'm looking forward to connect with other melon heads. It's about time i joined this forum, as I check for melon news on a weekly basis on other sites.
