Hey Melonheads,
We've made an effort to prepare for the tour with Chris Shinn, but there is not enough time. We are canceling the tour outright and will now start to shovel our way out of this enormous mess. Chris made a super effort to try to prepare for the tour, but it's just too much to ask of him to get up to speed on all these songs in 2 days. It is not fair of us to keep promoters hanging on while we cancel the tour show by show, and it is certainly not fair to ya'll to drag this out. We are not cool with doing something unless we know it is going to be up to snuff, and it is just doubtful that we would be there by Monday. We will have more news about what our plans are concerning the future this week, as well as information on how those of you who purchased tickets can be refunded. We're sorry for the confusion, the bad vibes, the drama and the letdowns. We understand the disappointment and anger that you feel towards us. We are angry and disappointed too. We aim to make it up to you soon.....

Thanks Rogers, I know that quality is number one with you guys and you wouldn't feel right having us go to a show that wasn't 100% awesome. I am sad that I won't see you as soon as I thought but as long as we get to see you again that is what matters most.

No anger my friend. Just disbelief.
Thanks to you all for everything you have done and continue to do for us fans, your friends. We support you and anything you need from any of us, let us know.
You have a fan base, Rogers, one that is not going anywhere. This very forum is a testament to it. All we want is our Melon.
Peace

Travis deserves a kick in the balls. This has been amazing since they put it back together, and now the newbie decides he doesn't want to play anymore. what a bitch.
I'm sitting here looking at my tickets for tonight's show, wishing I knew where Travis was so I could hunt him down.
I wonder if he realizes that by alienating Blind melon fans this kills any meager chance he had of getting a successful solo career off the ground.
Much love to the Melon boys for trying to keep it alive.
Hey Blind Melon, let me know if you're going to hold open auditions. I promise I won't screw it up like dipshit jones did.

ditto the "positive" sentiments.
I'm happy to have gotten to see you guys so many times, and see the looks on your faces to be playing together for everyone again. and no matter what was going on behind the scenes... the looks on stage were priceless.. and the amount of time spent before and after the shows with fans was phenomenal.
The amount of melonhead friendships i've made over the past year has been a wonderful thing. Both by meeting people at the shows, and on the forum. And you guys are to thank for that.
Looking forward to all of that continuing.....
Thanks for the updates.

I don't understand why Rogers thinks we would be angry with them. I'm just so upset by the whole thing and worried that Blind Melon will not continue. I'm so grateful for the shows that I have seen and the time the band has spent with all the fans. They definitely have all of our support while things get figured out. We need our Blind Melon!

Thanks Rogers for the great communication. Blind Melon was always a band of integrity and if they feel this is what they need to do than I could never be angry at them.
As tough as ths is for all of us, just remember guys...it's much tougher for the band...

Well, it all ponders an interesting question. If Blind Melon decides to hang it up, are we thankful to Travis for basically giving us the two years we got, which we would not have? Or pissed as hell for giveth and taketh away? My melon may explode...

Well, it all ponders an interesting question. If Blind Melon decides to hang it up, are we thankful to Travis for basically giving us the two years we got, which we would not have? Or pissed as hell for giveth and taketh away? My melon may explode... You know, it may be selfish but I am thankful for it. It has been a dream come true for me to see blind melon perform together again. I am sincerely thankful to Travis for being the catalyst that got them back together. I have made so many incredible friends and had so many good times with melonheads over the past year at these shows. That would not have been possible without Travis. I'm trying really hard to find the silver lining in all of this, and for me personally, I can find a lot. A lot of good things have come to my life as a result of the reformation of Blind Melon, and even though things have gone sour it will never change the good way I feel about what I've experienced in the past year. Travis has been a charismatic performer, he put on a good show. He did the Melon songs justice. When he did hang out with the fans, he was a cool guy. He was special enough to bring these guys back together, and although I am sad that all of this has happened and don't completely understand why things had to go down the way they did, I honestly am grateful to him. So many mixed emotions....but yes, I am definitely grateful that I had the chance to see Blind Melon making music together again. I'm remaining optimistic that they will successfully carry on with a new singer.

I could never be mad at the band for this. You can't perform without all the necessary people, and you guys are not the ones who left. Please do not get discouraged and let it get the best of you. Just out of curiosity, how come Brad doesn't do lead vocals? He has a really nice voice, too.
Here is what I posted to Travis. I don't know if he'll keep it, read it, or even take it to heart.
It applies to you guys too, in a small way. You're communicating with us about what's going on. We appreciate that, and we are all more than willing to understand and wait until you guys are ready.
------------------------------------------------------
I really enjoyed seeing you sing for blind melon twice in Oklahoma, and I'm sorry you weren't around after the show to get to say hello to, especially as now that will never happen. I appreciate that you were instrumental in helping bring the band back together, and I won't forget that because of you, I was able to see them performing my favorite songs, something I had never even dreamed of before. Having said that, I sincerely wish that you would have been able to continue on with the tour obligations after having rested your voice, and had communicated your wishes to the band so that they weren't left in a lurch with thousands of disappointed fans needing refunds to canceled shows. Please remember that as much as we love you, without fans there is no one to play the music to. The best advice my father ever gave me regarding work is this - "Always let the customer or boss know what's going on. If you're running late, call. If you can't be there, reschedule. They will always be willing to work with you if you give them the opportunity by communicating with them. If you don't call or show up, you can not only forget the whole thing, but count on them telling their friends that you're unreliable, ruining your chances for future work." Advice is free, do what you want with it, but time has shown me what a wise man my father can be. Oh, the second best advice he gave me was "Sometimes you have to bend, even if it hurts. You never know who you're going to run into again in the future." That probably also applies here. I'm telling you, he's a smart man.
