for me, this show was exactly like the only picture i took...very surreal and mostly a blur. the boys were playing 'vernie' during sound check when nel was walking vernie into the venue...that was pretty special. they seemed very excited to be there. in addition to the story brad told about shannon, we got a stage dive from travis, and an emotionally charged group bow at the end. nel, christopher, rogers, and brad stuck around for autographs and pictures. glen was out at the bus, but i guess travis went to sleep. the entire show was video taped, so we will, no doubt, get to witness it again. the energy, the crowd, and the guys were all amazing, but the sound...well hopefully they can fix that.

Rogers asked about the sound at the autograph booth. They got a new sound guy and wondered how it went. I was honest. I had to leave the 4th row halfway through the show and make my way toward the back because I swore my ear was bleeding.

My biggest issue with the sound was that it was cutting out. Definitely a great crowd!!!

my biggest issue with the sound was that it was too quiet. I was in the middle, where i usually stand for the best sound, and as soon as they ripped into 2x4 i felt like i had earmuffs on. Overall, i've always disliked that venue, but it was pretty special getting to see Blind Melon in my hometown, so i took it for what its worth.

The very loud (and rather crappy) music mix they were playing before they went on may have ruined my ears so when so started, they sounded muted. I was right in front of the speakers on Rogers side and I couldn't hear really anything but Travis and whatever else was mixed into the right side. I swear I didn't hear Chris the whole time. My ears were ringin so bad after that show (my own fault). Bad sound but the best vibe of any show I've seen em at. I as well loved how they bowed together. I hope there is a good picture of that somewhere. I would love to get that into the book. I also love that Nel introduced them and one by one they all gave her a hug as that came on stage. Oh, and Travis stage diving was awesome as well.

I started out in the middle of the crowd and couldn't here anything but the drunk a-holes next to me yelling to eachother and singing the wrong words at the top of their lungs . I have no issue with people singing along, it adds to the vibe, but for God's sake SING, don't scream! I never understood why people would go to see a band and sit there and talk to each other through the whole show. Frustrated, my wife and I sat at the tables at the back and amazingly it sounded great. I could also hear Brad's stories better from back there. Overall, it was a crappy venue for an amazing show. The best venue I have seen them at since they reunited was Libertyville, IL. But the Chicago show w/Nico can't be beat. Speaking of Nico, was she even there?

I was talking with Shannon's sister and she said that Nico has not asked to come to the vigil yet......she said that Nico is a bit worried about being overwhelmed by all the people. Ana said that she wouldn't be surprised though if Nico asked to come next year. She'll be 14 by then and a little better able to handle the crowd. She said that Nico will come when she is ready and as soon as she asks to be there, they will bring her.

As shitty as it may have sounded depending on where you were standing. It was the worst where I was standing. hartford connecticut. I couldn't hear a goddamn thing where I was.

New sound guy?!?! Last I'd heard Patrick was new to doing the sound, and I know he was doing an amazing job..... Thinking the majority of the problem had to do with the speakers being on the floor. I was in all areas of the floor during the night. Middle front = good, side front = ears bleeding, middle center = good, anywhere in back = couldn't hear a damn thing. I don't care what it sounded like though, the energy in the room was unspeakable - never experienced anything like it. had goosebumps the whole time. get 'em again just thinking of it.

Here's a useful tip.... In most venues, the sound is going to be best in the middle about midway back to the soundman. The sides are going to normally be imbalanced. The front row will sound not as great because you will get a lot of guitar amps and drums coming off the stage and not as much vocal. If I go see a show, I always try to stand back a bit and position between the two sides of the PA. We battle with this every night. Some of these clubs we are doing sound great and then some....well, just read this thread. It's tough. I talk to club owners and promoters every night and tell them that money spent on good PA and sound treatments to the room is money well spent. People know what clubs sound good. We see it in ticket sales in that the good sounding clubs will sell more tickets. Some clubs are so bad that people won't by tickets to see their favorite bands\ luv ya'll rogers

Word. Thanks, Rogers! Places like Station 4 in St. Paul - swore I'd never go back (assuming Blind Melon would never play there again), but was there once again with bells on for the 2nd show in July. I don't care if you all played in a wet paper bag, I'd be there. luv u too!
