Just thought I'd let you guys know, if you're driving to the Vigil from the north (or flying into Chicago), I-65 is completely closed north of I-80/94, so you *cannot* get directly from I-90 (Indiana toll road) to I-65 - all ramps are closed. Also, the ramp from westbound 80/94 to 65 is closed, so your best bet is to go past 65 and get off at the next exit, get back on going east, and get on 65 that way. Going back, you can get on 80/94 east and west from 65, but the exit for 80/94 west is a one lane detour ramp that is usually backed up for a couple miles, so it might be easier to get on going east, get off at the next exit, and turn around. Detour info and directions: www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/borman/restrictions/restrictions.htmlDetour map: www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/borman/images/I-80-65DetourRoutes.jpgIf you need better directions, send me a message and I'll help you out. I'm from that area and spent all summer figuring out that mess, so I've figured out quite a few detours by now. - Caiti

Wow, thanks for letting us know!
I'm horrible with maps, but I suppose that means that we'll be fine coming from Indianapolis?

good post Caiti.
I think Indy to there is fine... those exits and stuff are more up north.
I go where Tom Tom tells me! NO QUESTIONS ASKED! ;D LOL!

The area I'm talking about is in northwest Indiana, close to Chicago. If you're coming from Indy you should be fine, unless you're one of the people who is driving up to the Dunes.

lol Joel, you silly swede The area I'm talking about is in northwest Indiana, close to Chicago. If you're coming from Indy you should be fine, unless you're one of the people who is driving up to the Dunes. that's what I was thinking...we'll get lost on our way back to Lafayette, lol. Oh well. I just said to my dad yesterday that you can never get lost if you have time and you're not in a hurry to get to the destination. We have to be back in Lafayette by Sept. 26th in the evening so we should be fine, lol. Thanks for the info Caiti!

Oh, for some reason I thought only the way from north to Lafayette was problematic...now I see the way there is too. It sounds complicated. I'm good with maps though (definitely better than with texts full of numbers and directions) so we should be ok...as long as I'm not drunk
