[/img] #sunsmilie# hi so excited to be talkin to others who love blind melon!!! ive been a fan since 1992. Still remember sitting in the car listening to blind melon for the first time. I guess track 8 was my first favorite--deserted. Im a mississippi girl to--that made it even more special. Anyway in 1995 i thought it would be over and really hadnt kept up too much. Just started a new job where i have to drive alot.Got my cds out..yeah im old not even into mp3, and started listening, as i have been for the past fifteen? years. I've listened to it a couple of times a month at least since 92-93 and its my go to cd when everything else sucks. Which now in the days of overprocessed three chord crap its very often. The only time i got to see the band live was at a pre concert appearance at a music store on poplar in Memphis tn I saw them at the 616 club inclined opened. I remember meeting Shannon and he had on a multi colored crochet hat. I remember a member of our band gave him one of our tapes..hodgepodge.. I was frozen and could not hardly speak. I think i said sign this!! I was such an idiot!! I still have my picture of him. I dont remember alot from that night...no iwasnt messed up... i was in total awe and was absolutely frozen with emotion..sounds crazy!!! Oh well i also was in a band and we played change thats one of the best memories of my life... singing and expressing myself through blind melon's words when i was so shy and insecure i could let them talk for me. It was great. Oh well i plan on seeing them in good ol starkville ms August 13. Hope all the old fans come out. So happy the bands back together. Travis is great. I was very nervous about putting the cd in and listening..nervous about listening to a cd!!!crazy i know, but as everyone else here, i had such an emotional attatchment that i knew id be critical and pick it apart. I heard the first song and I was like ok then the next i was getting more excited by the middle of the cd i knew they had lived up to their own high standards. Its different enough to be origninal and not be just an alternative to shannon, but the same enough that it is definitely blind melon with the signature eclecticc hard to categorize sound. Ive listened to it constantly and just like the others, you can hear something different each time you listen. Travis is really good. He has the same tone but also a different range of sounds and melodies. Some songs though, i sware i heard shannon on!!! On hypnotized....i got chills. I just think of it as little whispers of shannon. The rest of blind melon are true artists. I was so excited when i opened my cd and saw all 4 familiar names. I knew the music would be amazing. The songs are so personal and so positive. I know alot of pain has come from shannons death and effect on the band but using these experiences to spread positivity and hope is the way to go. Oh well ive said enough i guess. Like i said.. glad to be here.
