Doing some cleaning up in my attic over the long weekend, I found an big garbage bag filled with movie posters. Most of them came from when my mom used to work at a video store, but the coolest part was that I found an old Blind Melon poster that I had signed by Shannon Hoon! I haven't seen the poster in probably 10 years and had just assumed it was gone. It's so awesome. Blind Melon are still one of my favorite bands and I got this at the Masquerade in Atlanta in March of 1993, before No Rain hit and turned them into a household name. I remember it so well because I was only 15 at the time and my dad had dropped a buddy and I off and we were waiting around after the show for our ride and Shannon Hoon just comes out and starts loading amps into their tour bus. We went up to him and he was super cool and friendly and thanked us for coming to the show. When we asked for autographs, he's the one who suggested we go snatch some posters off the wall of the box office and he'd autograph them. I remember that it was cold and raining really hard that night and the water was coming through the ceiling of the Masquerade during the show and the heat from the crowd and the cold water made the coolest foggy effect for the the show. Later that night, the rain turned to snow and it became "the blizzard of 93," probably the most snow I've seen since I moved to the ATL. The poster's in kind of rough shape, being snatched from the box office in the rain, then hanging on my wall for years but it's still pretty damn awesome and I'm really excited that I found it. Here's a couple of crappy screen grabs I took with my video cam last night. The lighting's not so hot, so I messed with the color a little on the second pic so the autograph shows better. FYI, the autograph reads, Rain Rain Rain, Shannon Hoon
