Rogers just told me about the TV show "The Wire". Has anyone heard of it, or have seen it? I am looking for a copy of the first season.

One of the best shows ever made. The last episode is this Sunday. I cant stand thinking its over. There will be no reunion this time. Its really over. I missed seasons 1 and 2. My friend let me borrow season 1 on dvd. I sat there and watched the entire season in one sitting. Got season 2 within the week. Had to wait for season 3 to come on HBO, and its been a slow, painful waiting game week to week, season to season ever sense. Get hooked. You wont be sorry, except for the loss of time in your schedule. As Clay Davis would say "Shiiiiiiieaeaiiiittt"

Rogers told me that if I dug the Sopranos, I would dig this. He told me it was better than the Sopranos... Hard time believing that, since I am a diehard 'Pranos fan.
Anyone out there have Season 1 for me to borrow? I checked out eBay, and they are a bit out of my price range, for the time being.

I love the sopranos, so I'm gonna check this out. They have 28 episodes from seasons 4-5 here, but no season 1. www.surfthechannel.com

Hell yeah man.
I have been watching The Wire since the begining. Great Show. Its dives deep into the culture of Baltimore. Many people who only see a few episodes dont like it. Everything kinda pieces together as the seasons go on.
Only 1 episode left.

The wire is the BEST! OMG I can't believe Rogers is watching it, we could have totally had a wire discussion.
Season one starts off a little slow to build the characters but its totally worth it! This show is probably one of the best I have ever seen. Its so realistic and takes place in Baltimore. Ive been to Baltimore many times because I live so close.....they hit the nail on the head. Omar is the man, my favorite character on the show.

I've seen all of the Sopranos episodes and....
THE WIRE IS EVEN BETTER!!!!!!
Seriously, it's UNBELIEVABLY good and rewarding. You absolutely need to watch them in chronological order, starting with the first season, and give yourself a couple episodes to get into it.
Matt, you need to check it out. If you cant get a hold of it ill hook you up with all the first season on a data disc. Mandatory TV! Cool that Rogers likes it. The man has taste.
F-ing Omar!

I just requested all 5 discs that make the first season on Blockbuster Online.. I remember Mere telling me about this show when we were driving to Baltimore to pick up Sonya, Greg and Kevin and this thread reminded me of it.
Thanks for the recommendation Meredith! ;D

It's the same price but you can take the movies you get in the mail and each one is worth an in store rental plus you get coupons every month for free rentals... AND... Their customer service is amazing... Sorry, Im just a firm advocate of B.O.

This show sounds awesome. I was getting my "mafia fix" from The Black Donnellys but they pulled that off the air last year and I hadn't found anything since that was comparable. Greg and I will have to Netflix the show. I used to live in Baltimore so that's the icing on the cake that makes me want to watch it. I miss that city regardless of how f'd up it is.
