Hello one and all. I am posting this here because i believe Shannon and Jim thought a lot alike. They both write a lot of the same idea in sence and theory. I love Jim Carroll as a writer for he is my favorite writer. I love Shannon and Blind Melon as a band for they are my favorite band. So i was just wondering if there are any more Jim fans out there aswell as if anyone else can point out some similarities between the two.

Does Jim have alot of books, I am sad to say that I only know him from "the basketball diaries" and nothing else. I loved that movie!

I love his writing but I can't honestly say I can think of any similarities except their drug problems

Well i know what you mean by that.I suggest some of you look up some of Jim's poems and then listen to some BM and see how there writing is very similar.

dang, over 20...i knew he wrote poetry, how many are like the basketball diaries? i know there is like a "sequel" to that book but i thought him quitting the drugs was like the redemptive thing about the book.

man, they have none of his books in Barrie not even the basketball diaries, but they do in Toronto so i guess it's not that bad... i need to check out some more of his stuff though... any specific ones you like, even poetry ones

Well i understnad what you mean.No liabray in Toronto holds any of his books or poems. They do however hold Patti Smith poems which are the next best things."The basketball diaries" changed my life along with Blind Melon, who dramatically changed my life.I suggest that book and "The Book of Nods" if you can get your hands on it.These books should give you a different perspective on a lot of things in this world.
