I read a book about Ed Gein, he was one sick bastard. It was really disturbing because it really happened. I imagine the movie must be pretty disturbing too.

I saw a movie about him a while back on tv... I think it was just called Ed Gein. I liked it okay, but I think it would have been perfect if they had used Skinned as the music for the end credits. They didn't.

Joel, I started reading Helter Skelter sometime ago and I never finished b/c I didnt like it. It has a bunch of "legal" talk if I remember correctly and concentrates more on the trial then on the actual crimes... Have you read "The Family"? I read some great reviews, I think Im picking up that one next.
Oh and if you havent already, watch the "Helter Skelter" movie, the newest one (I think it was made in 2001?). It's pretty good, especially comparing to the first one ;D

Anyways Helter Skelter is based on his experience during that time.. I think you are right about "The Family" being more interesting to read.. I wanna read both.. I`m also interested in the legal stuff, how they got convicted, the evidence etc.. I have The Manson Family dvd.. I think it`s from 2004.. I`m not sure what i think of that,it was weird.. Haven`t seen Helter Skelter yet.. As soon as i find it,i`ll buy it!..

Get outta here!!! #googlyeyes# #hideunderchair# Ive been talking about going to see all the Manson related spots for so long but everyone thinks Im crazy and no one wants to go with me Im not brave enough to go by myself but Id love to go see whats left of the Spahn Ranch, Death Valley, Sharon Tate's house, etc. I remember an interview with Shannon when he mentions actually going out there to check it out too.. Maybe it was Chips interiew? I dont remember, but it made me feel a little less crazy to know Shannon thought it was interesting too I have a friend who has family in Cali and we've been planning a roadtrip forever... I've already told her Im only going if she promises to come on a Manson tour with me.. #hideunderchair#

I can definitely see why some people wouldn`t go to Death Valley,Tate & LaBianca residence..And like you said Gabby,i wouldn`t want to go by myself either. Just way too creepy!
Barker Ranch is apparently very hard to find and extremely hard to get to.. It`s still worth a try because who knows how long the little house with stand.. It`s almost 40 years ago since The Family lived there so i don`t think that place has got too many years left..

Is that this really weird movie that at the end they have like two guys in this room and a bunch of kids that were fans of Charlie come in and kill everyone? I dont remember it very well, I watched it a long time ago but I believe it has some footage of the family? God, my memory is all foggy today

I'm fascinated by serial killers I just didn't post in here cause I thought this was still about the movie. I hadn't even thought about going to different historical sites like that though, I honestly wouldn't be scared to go there by myself but it would be a lot more fun if someone who shared the interest with me went as well.
