The director that brought us such classics as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfella's, Casino and The Gangs of New York to name but a few, is at it again with another mob/crime drama.
The setting for this film is the gritty streets of South Boston and the Irish mob which runs it.
Check out the more than steller cast which includes Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin.
The soundtrack includes Songs by The Rolling Stones, Dropkick Murphys and Van Morrison doing the vocal for a Pink Floyd song Comfortably Numb.
I won't give the plot away but I will say that it is well worth the price of admission. 2 1/2 hours of great entertainment.
Go see it.

I actually thought it was pretty unique and well put together. One of the best movies I have seen in a while... Well, besides "Mean Streets"... That's a classic. And, Boondock Saints.. that's also a great flick.

oh boondock saints is one of the best movies ive ever seen also... i did think it was well put together.. but what do u think about every one gettting killled in a matter of 5 minutes? also just a curious question which one is your favorite? casino, departed Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfella's, The Gangs of New York and if i know i forgot others so include them to. i know its a tuff question but if u had to pick a favorite what would it be? i thought gangs of new your was one of the best movies ever made.. shit.. whats his name. oh yea daniel day lewis.. i dont know if htats how u spell his name.. but i thought he was phenomenal in that movie.. just the way he walked and talked.. i think that was some of the best acting.. i saw a litte part of the making of the movie and the other charecters said when they would talk to him off set, like in the gym or out to eat, they said he always stayed in charecter..for example he would have conversation with the accent he had in gangs of new york.. i think thats dedication.,...

Robert De Niro James Woods
It was made in 1984. But, the setting is actually in 3 or 4 different years. 1910, 1930 something, late 60's.. and I think there was another.
If you rent it, or buy it, GET THE DIRECTORS CUT!! All other versions do not do the movie justice. It's over 3 hours long.. I personally think it's a better watch than The Godfather.

29... I was only 6 when the movie came out... Didn't see it until a couple years ago. I saw it on TV...it was "ok"... But I read that all of the TV broadcasts and even the original theater releases were scalled down by over an hour. The director himself refused to watch it. They FINALLY came out with the original full version on a double DVD. It's obvious why the movie was cut (you'll know what I mean when you see it)... But the short version REALLY misses a lot. You need to see the full version to actually grasp this flick. It's beyond and A+.
This movie is NOT to be missed.

"Gotti" is a must see for Mafia Movie fans... It's got 4 major cast members from the Sopranos in it. Heres a link to the cast members: www.imdb.com/title/tt0116441/
