So my friend kept telling me that I needed to check out Battlestar Galactica, and I was like, no I don't have time for a science fiction television show right now. He wouldn't accept my lack of interest, and he persuaded me to watch the mini-series. So I watched it.
WOW!
After watching the mini-series DVD, I quickly asked to borrow the DVD box set. I think this show is the coolest television show that I have ever seen.
Now I will always love Star Wars, but my interest in the SW world has kind of waned in the last few years. Although I do think that Star Wars has a more spiritual aspect to it than most sci-fi. And Star Trek - I have never been a huge fan. The New Generation was alright, but it never really connected with me.
I think the new Battlestar Galactica is just effin awesome! Is there anyone who feels the same way? Does anyone want to discuss this series? I honestly think that it is the most interesting series that has appeared on TV (even though I watched it on DVD) in years. It deals with contemporary issues, the actors are all top-notch, and the writing is excellent!
I had an English teacher in 7th grade that told me that good science fiction is the same as any good literature. It is not so much about "science" as it is about people overcoming obstacles.
Man vs. Man
Man vs. Nature
Man vs. Himself
I think Battlestar Galactica is this type of story. If you haven't checked it out - I highly recommend it.
Any takers. . . . . ?
