Even as new people like me flock to the forum as the news of the band back together again spreads like wildfire, it's evidently clear this is a tight knit group, who loves everyone on the board, new members and old. New members are treated with the same respect as the long time members and vice versa. (a few rotten apples may turn up, but thats expected right?)
So, like, this dawned on me the other day, in another thread, I had met brett, who lives in Vermont, only about a hour away from me.
It would be cool to have a members map. I've seen them before else where. Yes I know this takes some coding and such but, it would be a nice way for melonheads to meet other melonheads in their state or near by surrounding areas and maybe get together and continue the love of the board in real life, or it would also be a great way to organize car pools to events.
ie: I'm going to the Blind Melon show in philly, I live in Vermont, and noticed "exhibit b, also lives in Vermont and is going, let me PM them and see if they want to car pool down to the show.
Obviously this would have to be a "Turn off or On" option as some people may not want their exact location posted to the public.
Just a thought..

Actually, we do have this feature here at the forum. Maybe not as specific as you are talking about, but it is pretty darn cool, I think.
On the main homepage of the forum, scroll down to the very bottom, and on the bottom left-hand side, there is a little button that says 'Geo-Visitors'. Click on that and you will get a world-wide map that has markers where different melons are from. You can save a file from the program, and open it using GoogleEarth. And don't even get me going about how cool Google Earth is. . .
I digress. . .
