Ok, so, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I need to ask something about the boards...
Now, this doesn't happen with any other boards I go on, but on here, it keeps lagging like hell and I keep having to open new windows to get the board to work. D: Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one?

It's not usually a problem for me personally, though I don't know about anyone else. It does happen once in a while, but it's rarely enough that I normally just assume my computer's running slow at the moment.

For me personally, if I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer the site loads a lot faster.

It does work better with Firefox, It could be just something happening that day with either a connection slowdown or proboards server being very busy or slow.

I'm having a slow/freezing problem using Firefox too, but went in profile and took off showing images, avatars, etc, and it's working alot better.

^Yes.. that would make a huge difference.
The threads that are full of pictures and posts that have people who have large signatures or animated avatars take a little time to load for me... So, it is slow (in some cases) for me too.

Yeah, those are definitely the worst. There are a lot of times when I maybe would like to browse through the picture threads, but I decide not to because of the time it takes each page to load. All those enormous signatures can stop things up for me, too... I thought about making mine more interesting after I'd been here for a little while, but decided against doing anything to further gum up the works.

I guess that was the main problem, I was looking at the funny pictures thread and it took like, two minutes to load every page. And I think it added alot of lag, because every time I opened a window while the page was loading, it'd screw up on me. Thanks for the help, though. :B

Yeah, see, stuff like that I can definitely relate to. I don't usually have nearly as much trouble with the non-picture threads. The ones with lots of pics can take like two minutes to load for me, too.

Yep! Mine computer is a slow-roller on the picture thread and when I first load up the forum, I noticed all the smilies loading.. that takes a bit of time. BUT.. to keep things exciting around here We must relax and wait.

Here's how to modify your profile to hide avatars and signatures.
1. Click "Profile"
2. click "Modify Profile"
3. scroll down the page until you see "Account Preferences"
4. Underneath the account preferences heading you will see options that say "Show Signatures" and "Show Avatars"...set these to NO.
5. Click "Modify Profile" and it's done! ;D
Obviously this won't help speed up the pages that have images in the individual posts, but it may help speed things up a little for the folks who are having to wait forever for avatars and sigs to load.
Also, part of the reason why the pages load slowly is because every time you open a page every single smiley has to load in the background. It's just part of how the html is written...the only way to fix that would be to get rid of the majority of the smileys and I doubt anyone wants that. I have found that Internet Explorer takes longer to recognize the smileys than Firefox so that's why I switched to Firefox.
