Man... this is extremely sad. Like Mere said, he was always talking about 'the wife' . Jon was a wonderful, funny, considerate, well-spoken gentleman and I'm glad we all got a chance to know him and be a part of his life. Godspeed into the next life my friend.

This was posted by someone on the other forum for Jon and she requested that if Jon's widow visits us here that I please post it.
Here it is and it's beautiful.
Prayer of Comfort
Grant unto us, Almighty God, in all time of sore distress, the comfort of the forgiveness of our sins. In time of darkness give us blessed hope, in time of sickness of body give us quiet courage; and when the heart is bowed down, and the soul is very heavy, and life is a burden, and pleasure a weariness, and the sun is too bright, and life too mirthful, then may that Spirit, the Spirit of the Comforter, come upon us, and after our darkness may there be the clear shining of the heavenly light; that so, being uplifted again by Thy mercy, we may pass on through this our mortal life with quiet courage, patient hope, and unshaken trust, hoping through Thy loving-kindness and tender mercy to be delivered from death into the large life of the eternal years. Hear us of Thy mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.
ishbell if his wife may be on the other forum would you please post this for me. Thank You...

Last letter from Jon...
Matt,
Here it is, finally. Again, sorry it took so long. But, better late than never, right? You mentioned hooking me up with some Blind Melon stuff. Here's the list of stuff I didn't have.
Soup Demos Goodfoot Workshop Head Train Demo Final Pieces
I know it's not exactly an even trade. So, if you can't send them all, I'll understand. As far as the UT show goes, please please, send it back. It's the only copy I have. If you watch Chris Shinn, right after "Not Dead" and just as "Keep On" starts, he points to the crowd and says something. I know it sounds lame, but he was talking to me. He and I had been trading emails back and forth prior to the show. So, before the show started, we met. Right before they were going to take the stage, Chris came back over to us and asked if we were going to leave our seats and go to the floor. He must have spotted us out there and said "something". So, please send this tape back. It's not very often that one of your favorite singers says something to you from the stage. Enough rambling...
PM me when you get this.
~Later Jon Larson

I just figured I'd share that story with yall. It's something he'd never forget... In fact, neither would I. I went back and watched the show today and watched that part he mentioned multiple times. Gave me shivers. It's now one of my favorite DVDs.

Aww Matt thanks for posting this. I'm going to print it.
Jon also wanted a charcoal rubbing of Shannon's headstone. I wonder if he ever got one.

I still can't believe it. In spite of everything going on in my life, his death has been constantly in my thoughts. It's just so tragic.

If someone from this forum is going, he could do a charcoal rubbing of Shannon's headstone and send it to his wife I know it's not the same as if he would get it while he was still alive

That must have been strange to watch the UT show... I still haven't decided if I am ready to re-read any of his posts from past threads... This is really sticking with me, so sad. I could tell from Chris Shinn's myspace page that Jon communicated with him a bit. Has anyone let Chris Shinn know about this?

I was just thinking, it'd be a good gesture maybe to Give the next Melon of the Month to Jon, & instead of questions(of course) we could each on our own, repost from of his past posts, and maybe write a bit of what they meant to us. a nice memorializing idea, i was thinking.
