yeah its really sad he won't be able to hear the new album. I was thinking how excited he was about Blind Melon comeback. He often said how he never imagined he would be able to see them live again and he was so so happy that he'll have this chance.

I've just sent the past minute staring at my screen in disbelief. Like all of you, I'm shocked and saddened RIP Jon, and my condolences to his family.

Holy shit.... I just found out totally by accident. I haven't been online at all the last few days, and when I got on today I started with my e-mail, then myspace, and then the usual plan is to come here and be able to stay as long as I like because everything else is already done..... and yeah, I'm here now, but shocked and sad and uncertain, because of this news that came so unexpectedly. Jon was one of the forum members that I felt especially close to for some reason, and I'm just trying to wrap my mind around this right now. I don't know what to say even. Just--- Rest easy, cat, and we'll be around to see ya after awhile...... I need to think some more.

I don't know what to say. Since I only knew Jon through the Blind Melon Forum, then I can only know him by his words. And indeed, they spoke powerfully as to the kind of person he was. He was passionate about what he believed, but he had room for ohter people's beliefs. And he could be very serious or very funny. And his love for the music of Blind Melon is unquestionable. It is obvious that he loved music in general, and definitely the music of Blind Melon. It was planned that Jon would be the one sending me the Traveling Journal. Now, it truly feels like there will be a chapter missing. When I receive that journal, I will be leaving some empty pages to remember our friend. Or if others agree, we can have one person gather comments about him, and then that person can inscribe them on the pages that would have been his. My heart goes out to Jon's family and friends. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. Jon

This is so hard for me to take in right now.
Jon was one of the first people I got to know here. He was so incredibly caring and looked out for me. He used to send me jokes to make me smile and to check in to see how things were going. I'm So incredibly sad and heartbroken.
I wish all the best for his Wife and his children. They were his life and I hope they will be ok.
One of John's wishes was to meet Shannon Hoon.. I guess he'll have that chance now. Maybe Shannon will be the first one waiting at the door.
Love ya Jon, take care buddy.

A few hours have passed since I have heard. It is so hard to believe. It makes me appreciate each and every person, individual and friend on this forum or on the internet that chooses to reach out and get to know others. Another stroke of reality hitting me in the head: Everything is temporary. I had that written in my profile quote for a bit. I think I will put it back. It reminds me to enjoy everyone the way they are, exactly how they are. To say the things I want to say. To compliment people, and tell them how I appreciate them. It reminds me that things are always changing... and if you ever stop and find yourself enjoying the way things are in your life..... savor it, and know that "everything is temporary". (you know... that goes for the crummy things too...everything is temporary) Sheesh! Still thinking of his family too. Ryan, I think it is a very nice idea to leave pages blank for Jon. As well as a place for friends to leave comments. Big hugs to all of you here #smileyhug#

I just don't even know what to say. This is just a terrible loss. I didn't know Jon well but he will be missed terribly. It just hits home once again that life is so short and we take it for granted too much. I just can't believe it. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

I was sad when I heard about Jon, I think he bought one of the old road cases off an ebay auction that had "blind melon" stinciled on the side. It's too bad someone with so much passion passed away seemingly before his time. When I read that his favorite band was blind melon It made me bummed I did not know him better. Condolences to his family and kids. What a terrible loss.

What some of you said about life and death hit me too. We take things too much for granted, it made me think about it all again. I love you melons, this place and all of you mean so much to me although we never met in person. Good vibes radiate from the screen when I'm here so I know it's all good, lol.
