Wow, The Wood Brothers kicked ass at the Bluebird. Oliver dedicated a song to his Dad, and Chris dedicated a song to his Mom.
Carsie Blanton opened the show, and she was really amazing. Her songs were very unique, mellow, and sincere. Her lyrics had many funny lines. Not like hahaha funny, but more like ironic or tongue-in-cheek. I got to briefly meet her after the show and she signed my CD and drew a little funny picture on the inside flap. She came out during the Bros. set and sang a few songs with them.
The Wood Bros. performance was downright awesome! Songs from the 1st album and the 2nd. My photos didn't turn out too great, but I got a few videos. Any of these pictures are actually screen caps from a video. The best video I got is about 2:41 long and it is of the song "Atlas". Chris Wood was all over that fretboard, and Oliver played the slide with authority!

The Bluebird seemed to be a really cool venue. I probably could have taken way more videos than I did, but I was just unsure of how it would all play out. With the help of Greg, I got in touch with the Wood Bros. management, and got the okay before the show to record. And I even asked the security guys at the front of the venue when I got there if it was cool to record. They said as long as I was not going to video tape the entire show, then the Wood Bros. were cool with recording in general. So I did end up getting a successful recording of the evening. Although they fooled me when they were playing Hendrix's "Angel" with a very long pause, and I knew I was nearing the end of the MiniDisc, so I stopped the recording to switch discs, and while I was switching, they started up "Angel" again. shit! Oh well. In general I think the recording sounded good, because I wasn't in the front row like at Blind Melon shows. I was more willing to set myself back a little bit, and stand at the front of a railing, so that the people in front of me were a couple of feet lower than my mic. Although, I am almost positive that I picked up this one girl's voice as she walked by saying, "I NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!" Well, thanks for informing us, just go take care of it.
Anyways, both Carsie Blanton and the Wood Brothers were excellent! I would like to thank Greg & Sonya for introducing me to the music of the Wood Brothers. I was hooked immediately. Great tunes!
