i really like the movie the basketball diaries even though alot of people don't (like jim carroll hehe). i just read the book a couple months ago and liked it, just how gritty everything can be, the things he experienced while growing up were very.........i can't think of a word...........desperate seems about right. desperate but easy going at the same time. the drugs, the sex, the loss of his gift and friends, more sex and alot more drugs. it's worth the read and it's real short. here's the website. download the audio clips of the book readings and things. he's a real interesting guy www.catholicboy.com/catholicboy.com-asp//index.asp(as far as his music goes I haven't heard a whole lot ;D)

Yeah Basketball Diaries is a great movie, havent heard Carroll's stuff though... Didnt someone who was big in the grunge scene team up with him on a few tunes... like Soundgarden or something?

Basketball Diaries is one of my all time favorite Movies, I know he does the song in that movie....."they all died" or "friends that died" that song is really good!

Jim Carroll!!!!I LOVE HIM! I once travelled 12 hours on the Greyhound bus to see him and then turned around and went back home! I have seen him sing only once in Boston. he was only going to do his poetry reading but the band who opened for him knew all his songs and convinced him to get up and play with them. He is such an amazing writter and performer. For me he is up there with the likes of Kerouac and Burroughs! N
