Doesnt like Led Zepplin or Pink Floyd, I am hoping to maybe re-expose him to how cool these bands are, I mean what the heck is wrong with him? He likes the Doors and the Beatles.......and even Billy Joel, what songs do you all think I should break him in on?

I think most people get turned off Zeppelin because of their long and sometimes pointless screeching of Jimmy Page during their songs... I really have to be in a mood to listen to that... Maybe get him hooked on their acoustic stuff... If he likes 12 Daze, let him hear Matt's version of the Rain Song first, then smack him with some acoustic Zeppelin... As for Pink Floyd, i think he would prefer the more commercial songs like Money, Comfortably Numb, Time, etc... I found it really hard to get into the less know Floyd songs because they seem weird and childish at times, but who knows, one day i bet you ill love them...

Led Zeppelin: III Here's what sometimes, slightly annoys me about Zep: Robert Plant saying the word "baby" about a million times in a row. I would stay away from any of the songs where Robert Plant does that. I hope that doesn't sound disrespectful, because I have much respect for all 4 members of Zeppelin.
Pink Floyd: Dark Side I would not go with anything from the Syd Barrett years in this situation. Even though Syd's music is very cool (God rest his soul), I wouldn't try to get him hooked by having him listen to early Floyd.
Those might be more commercially popular, but I think both of those are great "albums". And I think it helps to be turned onto a band if you can listen to a whole album of theirs.

with led zep- if you have the bbc sessions cd i'd go with that. 'you shook me,' 'i can't quit you baby,' and 'the girl i love she got long black way hair' and then the second disk is mostly all acoustic stuff.
with pink floyd...i only have a couple cd's, but 'time,' everybody loves that song

^^^ Agreed. The BBC Sessions are awesome!
Also reminds me to mention "How the West Was Won" which is a three-disc.

I was in fact turned on to Zeppelin by Zeppelin I... And i can listen to it over and over again... I totally agree Ryan, I hate it when Plant keeps saying "Baby"... It sort of sounds like he is singing to a new born or toddler!!! It is soooo annoying...lol

LOL@ the baby comment
He does seem to like more commercialized music, he is not a "b sides" kinda person so I will try the common stuff first and see what he thinks........ He doesn't appreciate any of the classics at all and has no idea who is who, my mom raised me on 60's and 70's rock.

ahhh i love led zep! but the whole "baby" thing annoys me too sometimes, but still...
your best bet is to get your boyfriend stoned, then make him listen to pink floyd and led zep
because when you're stoned, anything is amazing.

I didn't get into Led Zep until about 4 years ago (my husband is ALL about them). Robert Plant's voice was the reason why I couldn't get into them at first. Once I got used to it I really started to like them. One of my favorite songs that I latched onto right away is D'yer Maker. Maybe throw that one in the mix and see what he thinks. Led Zeppelin II may be a good album to start with.
As far as Floyd goes, I would definitley expose him with Dark Side Of The Moon. That is a masterpiece. I agree that you shouldn't try to turn him onto the early Syd Barrett stuff until he gets into them more. Dark Side is what did it for me. Animals is also a good album that he may dig.

For Pink Floyd I'd say Dark Side Of The Moon too.
And about Led Zeppelin, I'll just read your advices cause I've been traumatised by those guitars too.

Zep is one of the greats, as is Floyd but with over exposure on the radio of the same songs, you miss out on alot of other great songs. But as for your b/f not liking them , well sorry about his luck cuz he's missin out on Pink Floyd, awesome shit. AS for Zepplin, he's not missin much there. And hey Bumcakes, we all know, NOTHING good comes from England except you.
