you know...
...there's a lot of people who keep the image of blind melon, with the No rain single and video...much people love that song, it's like a reminder of a lovely summer or a lovely passages on them life's...but that's all...they don't give the precious gift of listen the other songs...
...this is a fact...many peoples have no rain in a compilated cd with various artist...but know something about the band...nothing exept for a bee girl...
...I think blind melon with his famous, still is a underground band...for many persons...but I'm sure if people gives that time...will fall in love...

Here is my quick 2 cents to all the Melon fans that disapprove of the reformation:
Imagine yourself sitting in some bar, or club, listening to some cheeseball top 40 cover band playing songs from Nickleback, Staind, Foo Fighters, Godsmack...etc... Yea, live music is cool. And, you may be enjoying that beer that's sitting in front of you. But then, imagine that the band surprises the hell out of you and slams out 2x4. You bet your ass you'd smile wide, raise your beer and scream out "Hell yeaaaaaaaaaaa!" You wouldn't stand up and yell "STOP PLAYING THAT! IT"S NOT YOURS!" No, you'd be extremely happy to hear a band cranking out a song that you love, from a band that you love...
Let's face it... The fans that disapprove of the reformation are Shannon Hoon fans. The fans who approve of the reformation are Brad Smith, Rogers Stevens, Glen Graham, Christopher Thorn, AND Shannon Hoon fans.
Travis is the one that is going to get the most shit from all the people who disagree about the reformation. The fact is, it's not up to those people whether or not the band reforms. It's up to the band. If they don't like it, no one is forcing them to listen (even though we all know they will). If they are pissed off that the band has reformed, hit the bricks... There's no gun to your head forcing you to buy the new album, or a ticket to a show. Be close-minded.. Be stubborn. Don't give them a chance to surprise you.. It's your loss.

I think you're 100% right Matt, thanks for posting that. I think it absolutely sucks that Travis is going to most likely have to hear a lot of bullshit about his position in the band. Admittedly he has some big shoes to fill, but I think anyone who claims to be a fan of Blind Melon needs to give him a chance. If people can't accept him as the new frontman it's their loss.

I've been going on jambase since I was about 15 and if there is one thing I learned its that there is a significant amount of idiots on there who are just music snobs and think they know everything about music. Also I haven't searched but I bet there plenty of other forums that are doing far worse bashing then jambase. In the end opinions are like assholes everyone's got one #dance# just felt like using that little guy ;D

bogo, I have to agree with you....I've been going to jambase for years...I think its a great resource for live music and the on-goings in the jam community. One thing I have never understood is, the people who are passionate about the jam community are "supposed" to have an open mind towards a wide variety of eclectic music not limited to any one genre.....with that being said, how can they be such snobs and so critical towards musicians that have already proven themselves musically. One of the big interests within the jam community is collaborations and side-projects, so when a band loses their singer and over a decade later wants to reunite with a new singer on-board then how can they have the nerve to negatively criticize them...if anything you would think they would celebrate the news of a reunion...and welcome it with open arms.
sorry for the venting...this was just something that has been laying heavy with me...i could probably write an essay on the topic but I will stop now before I let it change my good mood

Yeah I'd pretty much cum in my pants if I was in some local dive bar and heard the live band bust out into these covers....

Hell fuckin yeah somebody else has heard of the shantee, I almost fainted when I heard them play it I wish I could been at that show, they're one of my favorite jam bands I really liked how they incorporated the B3 organ into the jam. I'm definitely going to be looking them up to see if I can download some of their shows. Any jamband that covers Blind Melon automatically has my respect!

I luvs ya Matt . I hope people just lay off Travis, there's enough pressure on him already. I look forward to the new but will never ever forget the old, it gave me so much and still does. Now Sonya that would be a sight, I have a feeling that all attention would be on you then

Very well said Matt!
And yeah, if I'd hear a band doing those covers in a bar, I'd just go crazy, lol.
I already went crazy of happiness when I heard Blind Melon playing for the first time during a break of an Umphrey's McGee show in Paris. It was for the first (and the last for now) time I've heard Blind Melon in any public place.
