Only have time for a quick question this morning, my computer is fried and I'm using my sister's What are the words to the poem written by Shannon's great grandmother. I see different versions and would like to know which is right. Thx for your help.

God's Presents[/u] (by: Shannon's great great grandmother, Blanche Bridge - February 11, 1884)
If my path be smooth or rugged If with thorns or roses strewn Where I go the Father seeith And He will leave me not alone If I take the wings of morning far within the giant sea Even there His hand will leave me Even there my God will be Though the gloom of night be round me Though I cannot see my way Yet the Lord will see and guide me Because unto Him the night is day If my thought are good or evil Set me think to hide them not there is one above all seeing And He beholdth every thought And ever more my eyes beholds me And all my ways to Him are known And His loving arms enfolds me He will leave me not alone

Yeah but in the intimate and interactive version he says the first 8 lines then i can't really make out what he says but it sounds like... if i take the gloom or happiness and i break upon the way know that i can know and there is all that i can take....
and then it goes back to the last four lines. It makes it sound a little desperate.

Yeah i got a quick question also.
In the Letters dvd when they start talking about making soup it shows Andy Wallace and the engineer like in those sex outfits....and then they say something about Shannon versus the wine bottle...and then it shows Shannon with like a notebook in his hand with some kind of design on it holding it up next to his stomach which has some kind of design from scars cut in on his stomach. It's almost like..I wouldn't say self mutilation..but i think he probably got really fucked up and then started cutting himself with maybe a broken wine bottle...maybe?
I never really understood that part?
Anybody got any ideas?

I think the wine bottle part may have been a crack at his dependency. But, now that you say that, it seems a little more fitting.
In my opinion, it wasn't cutting....More so, "scratching". Believe be...my neighbor's dog leaves marks on my arms that look like that... they are gone within a week. Just another way of Shannon expressing himself... Just my opinion.
In regards to that part of the poem in much music... If he forgot a few lines, he could have read them off his arm. Heheh..

Maybe this should become a 'quick question thread'

Or, maybe you could make a specific thread called "Quick Questions"?
I'd hate to modify this thread when the post was about a specific question. Know what I mean?

Thx for your help, I've printed it on parchment paper and embellished it a little and put it in a nice frame, I'll take a pic and upload it. Hey I wonder if that could be sold at the Vigil; doesn't cost much and looks beautiful.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I love this thread & ishbell your idea sounds awesome. I can hardly wait to see how it turned out! Also, I love the improvisation/singing going into Deserted on the Best Of disc that was recorded live. Such an oh so beautiful voice & a beautiful soul to match. Great.

Well, not unless he clotheslined you first. Really he doesn't mean it! ...sorry about that though. I'll tell him to stop.
