I am a young melon, well not really young, just not 21 yet and I've noticed that most hotels require you to be 21 to get a room... My friend and I really want to attend the Vigil this year but we are from New York so we would have to spend the night. I am just wondering if there are any other young melons that have gone to the vigil and where did you stay? We don't want to have to stay in our car but I'll do almost anything.

I've never gone, but maybe one of the older melons could go with you, get you a room, then you pay them back after

plenty of young people have gone to the vigil before, just talk to some people from the forum before you go, I guarantee there is someone willing to throw down on a hotel room with you. Also if I remember correctly you can camp there too, I could be wrong though I've never personally gone.

Robin, Im pretty sure the Knights Inn doesn't require you to be 21 to get a room, in 2004 I booked our room with my own credit card and I was not 21 then. I just recommend you make reservations as soon as possible, they will most likely be booked come September... That is where the party is at.
If you have any problems let me know, I will be more than happy to help with anything I can.
See ya in Semptember!! ;D

Karen, I just called the Knights Inn and they do have rooms available for that weekend... Did you check for Sept 27th?
Anyway, I told the guy that it would be a whole bunch of people booking at different times, but I asked him to place everyone that mentioned the "Shannon Hoon Vigil" together on the hotel, so it's easier to party ;D Sooooooooooo, everyone, when you book your rooms, be sure to let them know that it's for the Shannon Hoon Vigil.
Their number is: (765) 807-0007
I'll make another thread with this information and sticky it to this section...

Maybe we can find a place where we can all camp out? I don't know about you guys, but I'm poor, and can't afford a hotel! If we organized this, it could be really fun (marshmallows and whatnot)! Lemme' know!

Last year we camped right in the cemetery it was a blast. Although on Sunday night the cops woke us up and made us leave no problems the rest of the weekend. And well Hunter just brought a sleepingbag and crashed in the open and others like my boys just slept in sleeping bags right next to Shannon that too is awesome with all the candles what a great feeling. On Sat night Nel stays at the cemetery all night so ne sleep required. If you need anything let me know

Awesome, that sounds great! I'll bring my knapsack! hehehe... Being out in nature is so much better than sleeping in a cooped-up hotel room (and I can save some $)! Although, I don't know if I'm really going to sleep! Have you seen Travis with Blind Melon yet? They are great! Travis is the nicest guy you will ever meet (besides Brad, or course!). He was a hardcore melonhead like the rest of us, and is living his dream singing for them! Love and luck to them, and all of you too!
