Welcome to the Blind Melon Forum!
Welcome!
We are so glad that you have found us here. Maybe the analogy is overused at this point, but most melons feel like the Bee Girl when they find this Forum. Because if you love Blind Melon, then this is a wonderful place for you to bee!
Greetings & Introductions
If you haven’t already, we would love to meet you! Just drop by the “Greetings and Introductions” section at the top of the message boards. That’s the best place to get to know people when you first arrive. You might be surprised at just how many melons send you a friendly hello!
Variety
Well there are many melons that come here for many reasons. There are plenty of people here that are sharing their experiences from the new shows. Many are here to remember the life of Shannon Hoon. It is a great place to plan for the annual Vigil. It also is a good place to get information about the band (past & present). We are even so lucky to have a few of the band members drop in now and again. (Glen and Rogers both have their own blogs here!) If you are looking for a certain picture of the band or maybe a live recording, then this is the perfect spot to find those sort of things.
Blind Melon's Reformation & The Tour
2007 was an amazing year for fans of Blind Melon. We saw our favorite band reform with a new singer (Travis Warren) after 11 years, start writing new material, and touring. 2008 promises to be even better as their new album will be released in April as well as an extensive tour. The “Tour” section of the Forum was added to keep up with all of the news about what happens at the live shows. If you have photos, videos, or a review of a show, you are encouraged to share it with everyone. We all like to see pictures of Blind Melon rocking out on stage, or a photo and story about when you got to meet them at a show. This is by far, one of the most active and exciting areas of the Blind Melon Forum.
Trading
The ‘All That I Need’ section can be a great place to trade live shows with other fans. If you are looking to make some trades but are unsure of how to go about it, we have some guidelines that are helpful when learning how to trade:
blindmelons.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=trades&action=display&thread=1157903849
We ask that people not trade or post links to officially released material. This goes for Blind Melon and for other bands. This rule pertains to any product that has a copyright on it, whether it is a link to downloadable Microsoft programs or the Beatles’ White Album.
Posting Images
If you are wondering how to post images in the Forum, then you have two options. You can use the “Image Loader” that appears in your reply window when replying on the board. Or you can also start up a free-image hosting account. If you are unfamiliar how to do this, just check out this tutorial thread about posting images:
blindmelons.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=work&action=display&thread=1137985882
Please keep images to a decent size as to not stretch the page or create long pageloads. Hotlinking is not allowed
Share Your Art with Us
We encourage you to share your art with us in the “Skinned” section. We would love to see/hear what you have to offer. Does your band have a myspace link? Are you a painter? Do you have lyrics to share with us? Of course we always love it when people share their photos with us. Let’s face it – if you don’t promote yourself, then no one will. So let us know about yourself!
Guidelines
We do have guidelines at the Forum, and they don’t stem from a need to have any sort of control power over what people have to say. The guidelines basically all relate back to the golden rule, and they are in place to create a safe place where people can build a sense of community where people are not slandered or attacked. We support “Freedom of Speech” and we also encourage people to voice their opinions in a mature manner. Basically the bottom line here is the Golden Rule, but here are the guidelines all spelled out:

Karma
Many of our new members start to wonder what the karma thing is about. Under everyone’s profile there is a place where you can “exalt” or “smite”. When you exalt someone, you are thanking and/or praising them for something that they have done. Maybe they have made a good contribution to the melon community or maybe he or she is just a wonderful, friendly person. When you smite someone you take away from their karma for some unknown reason. Not much smiting goes on around here. It is good to know that you can only exalt and/or smite one person per hour.
Private Messages
Private Messages are a great way to communicate one on one with other melons. Some subject matter is better said privately and not publicly. In those cases, “PMs” are a great method of communicating.
Increasing Post Count
Some members would like to build their post count quickly. If you are looking to do this, there are ways to do that besides posting useless comments that don’t say much just to raise your post count. You can play one of the games in “The Lounge”, like the Song Game(s), or you might want to play one of the many movie/television games in the “I Wonder” section. You can also boost your posts by stopping by the “Greetings and Introductions” section to greet all the new melons.
Read the Thread
I guess the only other piece of advice that I can give is to read through a thread entirely before posting at the end of it. That way you will know the history of what people are actually discussing.
Have a Question? Just Ask. . .
If you ever have a question about the Forum, then please feel free to PM a staff member. We hope you will like it here, and we are so glad that you found us!
