I don't think it has anything to do with a childhood crush at all. Just his love for his Galaxie. Yeah, I guess when you read the lyrics you can see that it's definitely about a car. WTF? The song didn't even mention a Galaxie until after Shannon drove around in his car during the recording sessions because he refused to sing the original lyrics. I've heard numerous times during live show Shannon saying the song is about his first love.

I think Shannon mentions that Galaxie is about his "first true love" during a few concerts. I imagine this could be a childhood crush or something? Or possible he fell in love with the Ford Galaxie at a young age?
Blind Melon mentioned in the Ford Galaxie wikipedia article:

I am so glad that Blind Melon decided to call him out from Mississippi instead of settling on some butt-rock drummer from the glam scene in LA. Isn't he from North Carolina?

Chris Thorn's episode of reDesign was on HGTV today at 10 am Central Time. I just happened to be flipping through the guide and noticed that reDesign was on. The description is "An old-fashioned kitchen is updated" and sure enough, there's CT with his wife Heather getting there kitchen remodeled. I only caught the last 5 min or so of the show, and it doesn't look like it'll be on anytime soon. www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hrdn/episode/0,2496,HGTV_20776_39134,00.html

"I agree, "toes across the floor" is great, and as for Shannon I know his death was tragic but can you imagine staying alive to become a Tommy Lee, dating Paris Hilton or having a VH1 reality show?"
It's unbelievable someone would post something like that.

While the audio interviews have been really cool, I'd like to see some text ones. Like email a member a list of questions, because it seems like the live audio interviews stray off-topic and we don't get as much info as maybe we would like. Plus, 55 minutes is really long. Who wouldn't kill to have hour-long interviews from each band member back in the day? I would much rather listen to the band member answering the questions than read some response without getting the full feel of the interview. Matt- do you know the date of the Brad Smith interview that you did?

Here's a little info on the question Matt asked Brad about "official" bootlegs like Sting Me. I've got a few bootlegs of the Gin Blossoms and Belly on an Italian label called Kiss The Stone records. After a wikipedia seach of said label, I found this:
"Kiss The Stone Records was a popular bootleg recording company...based in San Marino (Italy), where the law allowed the company to market bootlegs as long as it placed royalties for the artists in an escrow account. Most artists wouldn't bother collecting, either because they didn't want to legitimize the bootlegs or because tracking down escrow accounts in a foreign country was more trouble than it was worth."
Not sure what label the Blind Melon bootlegs were released on, but I'm sure they all worked the same way.

thats a pretty common honking sound...if you walk through a main city youll probably hear that same thing...ive often thought of that song while walking around. Yeah, I hear the exact car horn sounds all the time. It sounds pretty damn close to me. Maybe the shows creator is a fan of BM?

I was just watching an episode of Veronica Mars when I noticed a sound that was very familiar to me. The beginning of Life Ain't So Shitty (the street noise/cars beeping) was used in the show as background noise. The whole song wasn't playing in the background, just the sound effects. Does this mean that stock sound effects were used in the recording of Life Ain't So Shitty? I always felt that the noises gave it an outside NYC cab ride type feeling. Anyhoon, I recorded the sound clip from VM and put it next to the beginning of LASS. Take a listen and you be the judge: First is Veronica Mars, followed by Life Ain't So Shitty. rapidshare.com/files/56915911/Shitty.mp3.html(The file's only like 200k)

Any updates on the release date yet? I only get the chance to visit the board every week or so, so I might have missed something. Didn't Glen or Rogers say something about June or July? The anticipation is killing me!
