Hey all,
I just found out I am going to New Orleans in June and wondered if we had any cajun melons that would give me some ideas of fun stuff to do. It's my first time there and I want to make sure I don't miss anything! I will of course be going to the former Kingsway Studios and Tipitina's to pay my homage. Also, if there are any melons in the area that would like to get together and have a good time, let me know! Thanks for your help guys!

NICE! Have fun down there. I asked Glen a similar question one year when I was going down to New Orleans for Christmas. Here was his response:
_ A (brief) WALKING TOUR OF BLIND MELON'S NEW ORLEANS 1994_
You might try the infamous Le Bon Temps Roule' on Magazine, then with it on your right, walk one or two blocks away from the French Quarter until you get to Upperline. The house on the corner on the bon ton side of the street is where Brad and his then girlfriend lived and where he wrote and recorded the demo for Galaxie. Turn left on Upperline heading towards the river, go one block to Constance. I, and later Rogers, lived at 4868 Constance on the corner. He lived in the back pool house, I lived in the main house until I bought a house, then he moved up front. Swallowed, Vernie, Car Seat and others were written and demoed here. We then used the pool house living room for pre-production for the Soup record. The Duke, Toes, and a few other songs came together in that room. We also did alot of coke(not Brad), which probably accounts for the atypical output of more than one song at a time. Rogers is interviewed in front of this house and filmed wheeling the lawn mower into the pool in Letters... I bought my first house in Nov. '94, If you want to see it, it's 2327 Napoleon between Liberty and LaSalle. (Please don't knock)I moved to North Carolina in '98.

Which house was in Letters From a Porcupine when Mouthful of Cavaties is playing? And is that were the cats were that Shannon was asking about?

Matt Is Correct for Sure, That was Kingsway. Glen spoke (about How Mouthful of Cavities was Recorded) in The Greg Prato Book "A Devil on one Shoulder and an Angel on the Other". This is what he had to say about it... "Shannon and I cut That Togethor, and everybody else overdubbed.Wewere upstairs in Kingsway in the big Room.Shannon was on an enclosed porch-with French doors in between he and I. He(shannon) had all the Windows open, and I'm sitting there on the drums. We did it a couple of Times.that has one of the best feels than any of them, because he had a really nice Rhythmic style on the guitar, when he wasnt burdened by having to think about other instruments other than drums. It wasnt edited, what you hear on the tape is real. We're sitting there, He's smoking Dope in little chair, and there are cats basically raping each other outside in the courtyard. they were very loud and they kept going. That was one of the few times I remember playing with Him in a Studio setting. We finished, got up, and it was like HELL YES, That was Great. We Both Knew." -Glen Graham
