Finally got around to watching their live DVD. Obviously I'm new to this band. I discovered them a few months ago and decided to get the first album from the recommendation for a friend. They immediately became one of my favorite bands (and I'm a metal head). In disbelief that the second album could stand up to the first, I finally was able to get the second album, and was absolutely amazed.
BM are now easily one of my favorite bands and definitely get the most emotion out of me. Well today I finally had the time set aside to watch the Metro DVD. I don't know exactly what to say exept.. one of the most moving musical experiences of my life. Had chills the entire dvd. It was just incredible. Also cool to see Soup, which was a new song to me.
Now, for those of you who know more about the whole subject, was this when Shannon was deep in his drug addiction? To me it looks as if he was wrecked on heroine that entire show, but maybe that's just who he was when he was on stage?

I just converted an interview done by Guitar Magazine (thanks to Ryan). They interviewed Rogers and Christopher in 2007. The spoke specifically about this. Shannon was sober on stage, which suprised me. But, yes.. he was deep in his addiction. He would get high after the shows.

I'd like to read that interview, is there a link to it? Yeah the Metro show wasn't far behind from when he died, right?.

It's an audio interview. I'll have to ask Rogers if it is ok to post, since he does say some "Off the Record" stuff about record deals..
Yea, the Metro show was on Sept 27, 1995... Shannon died less than a month later.

Wow.. it was that close to his death? So sad...
It really was an incredible performance though. And another thing, where the rest of the band members kind of fed up with Shannon's addiction and habbits by that point? It might just be the way he is, but Thorn didn't seem to really look at Hoon or even smile for the most part. The other guys didn't really pay much attention to him either when he spoke to them.

Today marks the 15 year anniversary of The Metro in Chicago show.
It was my first time seeing the band live, and having the great pleasure meeting them all!
I have been to many shows in my life, but this is one I will never forget!

Yea I must say that would have been so cool to have been there. Something I had noticed with the Metro DVD... seems to have Shannon , Glen , and Rodgers on camera a lot. Brad and CT are only caught on wide shoots. Hmmm.

I watched this about 2 years ago for the first time and it totally captivated me! Not sure how, but it made me cry. There's something about this performance, I'll have to watch it again when I get to my boyfriend's next month and then maybe I'll know... On a side note, I dont really like to talk about this but since someone brought it up, I thought Shannon was clean towards the end and that is why he OD that day, cos he'd got clean and his body couldnt take it. I may be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere... Shannon carries something in his voice that not many singers carry. There's tragedy and pain and yet his smiles and laughs are so sunny! He just moves me! I'm the kind to say "if an artist can make you laugh and cry they are doing the right job". Same goes for an actor..Sorry, not so much into paint but i'm sure you can find it there too...
