to make a log story short, I have been a huge fan of Melon, and even more Shannon's voice...It has always moved me.
I am now 35, and have struggled with addiction for years until the past 6 months. Much like Shannon, having kids was the motivation to turn my life around. I suffer from mainly alcohol addiction and maybe even perscription drug addiction. I have been clean for some time, and recently hearing his music, watching his emotional performances, and reading about him has reminded me that I am on the right path.
It might seem dumb, but I feel I owe a lot to him, via his music and lyrics to keep myself straight. It is sad that he is gone, and couldnt overcome addiction. We lost a true brillant mind and person, and I dare say the BEST voice I have ever heard..A guy that did 'jam' music when that wasnt what was mainstream.
Either way, he is a HUGE motivation in my sobriety, via his life and music....Im sure that want his point, but the fact it has made me focused I hope he can see that from where ever he is. I will be forever greatful.
My tribute, is in the form of a hand carved stamp, that I have spent hours carving. It is mounted on exactic wood and taken me hours to carve. With this is a book, to write your memories of Shannon when you get it.
I plan on 'hiding' it in the cemetery, for other to get when they visit him there. it would be hidden away from the actual grave and be super respectful to him, and the area indeed. I would post here how to find it, and would be in a waterproof container year round.
I plan on emailing his mother for permission, but it is very respectful, and I want others to see the tribute, and be able to stamp the image I carved for him in his memory. I think it is a good way for me to thank him, and for other to visit his grave when there is no Vigil, and take something with them, and read notes from others.
Just an idea, and I truely look for feedback from his fans...Again, I owe him a lot.
thoughts?
thanks to all.
Jay
