With our favorite band on hiatus again I am craving some new music to chew on. Here are a couple late 60's/early 70's suggestions I have to check out if you haven't heard it already:
Scorpions - Lonesome Crow Don't dismiss them just because their later work was heavy on the cheese factor. This was their first release and is nothing short of amazing. Michael Schenker was only 15 when they recorded this which is amazing in itself. Standout tracks for me are "I'm Goin' Mad" and "In Search of the Peace of Mind". When I first heard BM's Headtrain demos, in particular "Rebirth", "What You Lost" and "Mother" I was reminded of this album for some reason.
Blodwyn Pig - Ahead Rings Out Great blues, rock, jazz band. A branch off the Jethro Tull family tree this band only put out 2 albums, this was the first. I remember back in my days of collecting vinyl this was one of my Holy Grail finds. Amazing guitar work and the melodic baselines I fell in love with was also what cemented BM in my heart (thanks Brad). Check out "Dear Jill" (featured on the almost famous soundtrack), "Ain't Ya Coming' Home, Babe?" and "The Change Song", also bonus tracks on the re-issue "See My Way" and "Walk on Water".
You can find these on you tube to check out.
Anybody have some suggestions for me???

Paper Mache is an up and coming band I saw at an underground show last year. They just played SXSW. If you are looking for some new material to listen to, I really like these guys. Particularly "Mix Tape" and "Proud", check out their myspace

Johnny Winter Howling Wolf ZZ Top really old stuff pre 80's, Rio Grande Mud, Fandango & Tres Hombres which has my favorite tune "Jesus just left Chicago & is bound for New Orleans" Jeff Beck Paul Kossoff Status Quo Commander Cody Long John Baldrey Stevie Rae Vaughn Muddy Waters The Cult (Rare Cult) Patti Smith check out vid "Because of the Night" on you tube, she's a personal hero of mine, no f'n pretty face but pure talent.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is def a good bluesy sound. I've only heard a couple of their songs, but "The Stone Roses" is another to look into, if you haven't already.
