Part of the appeal of Blind Melon songs are that they are songs we can all relate to in our lives. I don't really party any more, so I don't struggle with drug abuse, but one thing I do struggle with is paying my bills and keeping our household "afloat", so I thought I would re-write Walk more in keeping with what I can relate to. The lyrics mostly fit the melody, but I did this pretty quickly just so I could get it out of my short term memory slots for today.
Find myself opening the same bills everyday
Ones that keep the water on
And ones that run the AC all day
Around the gifts and cuts and emergencies
I need to be on top of a mountain
Where I can still pay for everything
Cause being broke's getting old
Now as I open my bills to start another day
I'm in a pile of junk
And a stack of utilities
Cards from my friends and family
you know I need them
And under a desk that's seen it all before
My hands are so cold
And I can't believe that I have to write this check again
But the bills they have just a little more space in-between them
Gonna take a breath and try again.
