Very classy way to handle this. Again, going above and beyond for your fans. Rogers, I think there's a lot of people on this forum, myself included, that wish we could go back in time and change the way we handed ourselves throughout this whole fiasco. I think the forum as a whole owes you and the band a long and overdue PUBLIC apology of our own. Here's mine: Your feelings of discouragement are completely understood and appropriate. I'm truly sorry for any personal involvement I may have had in facilitating those feelings. You and the band have no reason to be embarrassed because you were, with some level of trust obviously, letting us in and keeping us current on what was happening inside the fold. You trusted us to take that information and simply be informed, but many of us, myself included, ran with it and began asserting opinions and stating feelings with regard to a situation we really didn't know enough about to do so, thereby compromising that trust. I hope, in time, you can forgive me, as well as the others involved, for our reprehensible behavior, and that trust now compromised can be brought back to the level it once was before all this. So there you have mine now. I hope many others follow suit. All that said, I really hope you read the responses to this latest post you made and derive a similar level of encouragement as the discouragement that you've felt. No matter how pissy we've gotten with each other, no matter how much venom that has been spit the bands way, or Travis's, or Chris, one thing I'm certain of is, and I hate speaking for others but I'm pretty sure 99% of the forum members are with me on this one, NONE OF US WANT YOU GUYS TO GIVE UP! It's not gonna be Chris who's gonna carry you guys forward. Fine. It may not be Travis, it may be Travis, FINE ALSO! Like you said, the band and only the band knows what feels right, and whoever the hell you find to stand with the band and sing the songs we all love, we are gonna be happy, albeit I'm sure in varying degrees, but we are all gonna be happy with whoever you choose. The only thing that will make EVERYONE unhappy, for sure, is if you guys quit. Some of us don't like the new material, MANY OF US DO. Please keep that in mind also. It's BLIND FUCKING MELON for Christ's sake! All of us share one common thing at this forum, and that is that WE LOVE BLIND MELON. We lost you guys once, please don't do it to us again. Take as much time as you need. My personal preference is keep quiet about the goings on, as you stated you thought was best practice, and let us know when you have a solid direction. But for Gods sake don't let the negative ramblings of your emotional and deeply passionate following lead you in a direction that is an end. Anyway, and this is kind of a friendly challenge, look at the stats. The numbers boss. Tally up the amount of posts that are positive, all the posts on this site, and then tally up the ones that are negative. I'm certain you'll find it's only a small percentage of the total posts that are negative and shitty. And you'll probably also find it's a small percentage of forum members that are actually consistently posting negative shit. Don't let the few destroy what is beloved to the masses. Just some perspective and positive reinforcement from a person who loves this band, fuckin loves you and what you do with that geeeeetar of yours and the songs you write and your band writes. O.K. man? Yours, Doug Word Brother!

Rogers,
Thanks so much for stopping by and saying what you did. I am sorry about all the bad vibes around here lately, I know it will turn around soon. Internet forums tend to have a lot of ups and downs, especially with passionate individuals like us Melonheads. I know that we are all holding our breath anticipating the future and we all hope for the best.

I'm not bummed about anything. I got to see BM 6 times in 2008 and once so far in 09. Travis gave us all hope and inspired us that BM can live on. If there's any problem here, it's that the band may have over-toured and burned themselves out a bit (physically and emotionally). Rogers, thanks for the post and you guys take all the time you want—no rush—you'll figure it out and get it right in the end. See you on tour.

Thank you Rogers. Thank you very much.
Everyone, I did receive very sincere letters from Brad and Rogers both. Which was great. They handled it as best they could given the circumstance.
My only sore feelings focused on the lack of explanation to everyone else. The "non compos..." announcment was about as vague as it gets. I felt I put in too much time to not even be mentioned. I went and told everyone I knew it was a go and we were to, at very least, do the New Years gig. I was proud.
To not even be mentioned in the announcement was hurtful.
... I was warned by more than a few people to cover my ass. Which I viciously attacked. So you see, my embarasment isn't solely based on what the fans out there think. It's my peers who have been kind enough to Not say , "I told ya so"
I still have people coming up asking how the show went. That's the icing the cake.
But guys, I'm not harboring any resentment here. I know all to well how stupid band politics can get. I hope we can and am sure we will make some serious music in the future. I never did share how hurt I was over Unified Theory when all that was happening. I never did find out what really happened, never did find closure... And I suffered greatly for that.
All my love to Blind Melon. All my love to every Melonhead, each and every one!
It coulda been great;)
Now, if you'll excuse me. The French Quarter is singing my song!!!
(... and everyone lived happily ever after!)
The End.

(... and everyone lived happily ever after!) The End. -chris shinn My stomach has officially sunk into my feet. I love Blind Melon. I love Chris Shinn. I love Unified Theory. I really like Travis Warren's music and I love where Blind Melon went with him. I'd love to think everybody could hug, kiss, make up and forget everything. But I'm a realist. However, I'm gonna slam another high life light and hope for best! I'll give my best case scenario. Why? To cheer my own damn self up and hopefully someone else along the way, that's why. Blind Melon go on with Travis. They keep spitting out great new music and touring. On the side, Unified Theory reunites and slams out some new tunes. On the side-side, Rogers and Glen form a power trio with Chris Shinn(on vocals and bass) called "Wendy's Triple Stack" and make the most bomb ass funk/soul/groove album to ever grace this planet! AAAAAAAH dreams...... #smilieradio#
