wow. I duck outta the room for a month and look at everything I missed! Look, basically. I got royally screwed. But you guys aren't going to hear about that. Travis just couldn't wait to blab on his blog that he was back in the band. He obviously didn't care how I would find out. I was in Nashville heading to the studio when I received a text from Yves. That's how I found out. I later got a voicemail from one of the members telling me the news. I got the feeling they wanted to talk to me personaly but knew Travis had let the cat out of the bag. And feared I find out exactly the way I did. I understand and respect their decision. I really do. but I've ever been more embarrased. I did get 2 sincere emails from 2 members trying to make sense of it, but I have been pretty shocked that there was never a public apology. besides the $500 I spent on my vocal coach, I comprimised valuable time with my band (which sucked because my guitar player lives in Brooklyn and was in LA the same 2 weeks to work) I don't want anything from this band and sure as hell don't expect it. But damnit, you better believe I was Blind Melon. even if for two weeks. I've never worked so hard to get kicked in the face. At least I deserve to be recognised for my time. They came to me for christ sake?! I've tried taking the high road with all this. oh well... that's it in a nut shell. I was the rebound. Plain and simple. WTF? It was done and over bro. Why do you got to bring it all back up. Your just beating a dead hourse with a stick here man. All this is going to do is start more bickering between all of us members of the forum and nothing you said is going to change any of it. We all love you man, its just for most of us Travis is our guy, and you can't blame us for that. Some things are just better left unsaid... Move on... I'm not really sure how anyone here can decide it's over, certainly not you. I think it's pretty rude of you to tell him to move on. Just because you don't want to stir up shit. This forum is for discussion. This forum welcomed Chris into the fold. This forum voted him Melon Of The Month. Don't you think that after everything he did to step up to the plate, and then finding out he wasn't doing the NYE show from a friend who read Travis' blog, he'd be a little upset?? Chris is upset. And I don't blame him. I've always felt Chris deserved a public apology and a huge nod for his efforts.

The point is bro, We shouldn't be arguing at all man, its pointless. Chris Shinn is awesome, I hope he goes on to do amazing things, I ment no dissrespect to at all. But the fact is, The Band made this choice, Not Travis, Travis has only said nice things about him. If hes going to be mad at anyone it should be the band ya know? I have no problem with you, I actually love talking to you man because we see things so differntly 99% of the time, You make me think of things in ways I wouldn't have before and have an open mind. But the thing is, just let it go....''So WE can move on..."

But he is the one who initially broke the news about Blind Melon firing him before anything official could be said. I bet he was angry, because clearly, there were two very different sides to the story. I'll give him that. BUT, second time around, after shit hit the fan, to do it again?? Seems pretty disrespectful to the band you just got back together with. I will never know how the conversation between the 5 of them went down. But for none of them to consider Chris Shinn and discuss EXACTLY how they would announce the news is an extreme oversight. Chris should have been the first to know, and to me that's obvious. THEN, Travis breaks the news on Myspace, Rogers posts a blog, Chris finds out from a friend and then later from the band and still, to this day, no official apology. I have a lot of room in my heart for music, and it's a little bit broken that a band that I love, with or without Travis, didn't step up to the plate and treat Chris with the respect he deserved. So forgive me when I get upset that you are telling him to get over it and move on. This is the first time he's told his side of the story...and you can go ahead and call it out "yeah, HIS side...", but it doesn't matter, cause no one else stepped up to speak for him.

That's one thing that disappoints me about all of this. They did come to you for help. You were there to help. Then, they flip flopped. I have nothing but respect for you, Chris. I am sure we'll be hearing some great things from you soon! At the same time, I do support Blind Melon and the decisions they make... It's hard for me, personally, to take any sides here (so I won't), since both of you have my total support, together or apart. I wish the best for you, and the best for Blind Melon. Whatever happens, happens. I love you all.

What to say... Been a huge BM fan my whole life. Trying to stay neutral on the whole thing as i don't want negative attn on myself. Been watching this unfold for about a month or two now and its killing me to watch all of you post like this... BM is awesome and probably doing/handling things exactly as planned.
Chris... You were handled incorrectly by BM. BM as a band is handling things rather precariously. The initial firing of Travis was a mishandling, if it was not intentional. Travis took the high road without bashing the band, even though the band didn't take that route with him. Then BM comes out saying your the guy for the temp fix (Shinn). You work your ass off to get ready and then texted on a hella let down by another fan, and not told officially by the band? mishandling? maybe if it wasn't intentionally done by the band...
All the while there is this blindmelonsinger@gmail.com... Chris, were you lead on to be the permanent singer? Was BM auditioning others for permanent replacement while telling you you're the perm? I understand the auditioning of newness, but are they going with newness? or are they going back to Travis? And why were they outward about you, while auditioning, etc...
Here is the conspiracy theory... What if all of this media hype and chatter and "mishandling" <--- maybe too strong of a word... "intentional sloppiness" all a part of a much grander plan to scare Travis back into shape to get him motivated to do good for BM.
BM has had much more grace their whole professional career (even with shannon shananagons) than they have had recently. I'm a bit skeptic to believe that they are not pointed in their actions and are achieving their goal of getting Travis back and motivated again. EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY HAVE PUT SOME OTHERS THROUGH THE RINGER in the process. Its a sad situation if the best option is the hurt others to get the process going, but it was a well designed plan if they go back with Travis and he's a better, more productive member having gone through this.
I know many of yuns know more than I do but remember this is hollywood, no doubt about it. You can't do what they do and be around what they are around and not be affected by the "hollywoodness" that surrounds the industry. Though this is my first post, i'm not new to the scene.
Discuss... local conspirator. and i'm posting this in a very neutral mind expanding way. be constructive with your responses please.

Just my two cents:
This whole thing is a sad state of affairs for a band with such beautiful music. The bottom line is that none of this should have been anybodies business except for Travis, Rogers, CT, Brad, Glen and Chris Shinn. Travis screwed that part up. He made it everybody's business. That was the big mistake.
I understand forums exist to discuss and debate. That is a good thing. This situation, however, shows a huge negative to it. Again, NONE OF US SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ANY OF THIS.
I feel sorry for Rogers, Glen, Brad and CT. They had no choice to defend themselves the way they did, after Travis posted his blogs. I also feel for Chris Shinn, in the way it all went down for him. However, he did the same thing Travis did, went to the internet and made an emotional post. Now the band has to deal with this yet again. I hope they do not respond to this. All it will do is feed the drama and this world has enough of that. Sad, sad, sad...

I am another infrequent poster, yet longtime BM fan. What I would like to see happen is for the band (including Travis) to post one blog giving us an update as to what's going on thus far, preferably with a public apology/ explanation to Chris. After that, I would hope that they'd keep quiet and private until the entire situation is resolved. In turn, we could stop all the bickering amongst ourselves and move on. I hate seeing all the arguing around here, as we are all fans. On the other hand, being just as passionate, I fully understand the differences of opinion and the desire to speak my mind. Hopefully 2009 will end up being as good to us as most of 2008 was around here.
