Travis is definately not a poor man's shannon hoon! If you dont like "For my Friends" or Travis, then dont listen to the album or see the shows. Chris Shinn is awesome, but if he did colaberate with the boys it wouldnt be blind melon, it would be something else. This isnt the chris shinn forum, its the blind melon forum! No offense to chris shinn. Im tired of people badmouthing Travis. Hes and excellent singer/songwriter, and he puts on a hell of a show! If blind melon are having personal problems they will figure it out. All this bickering and assuming this and that isnt helping anything. Blind Melon is running the show here, not us! They are going to do what they want, all we can do is hope they keep making music and playing shows. We need to support them in any decision they make. Lets get back to what made this band so awesome in the first place- great music and great people listening to and buying that music! Let the band work out their own problems. It seems like everyone at the forum is getting too impatient and excited. Lets all chill out a little and let whatever is gonna happen, happen. Word to Travis who has taken a lot of abuse on this forum. Remember how excited everyone was when we heard BM had a new singer (travis)? Dont forget about that! In regards to the above, absolutely I agree. I gotta lot a love for Shannon. He is obviously missed and the world lost out on a whole bunch of creativity and beauty when he passed away... But the world moves on regardless... Do these people want Blind Melon to die too? By coming back as Blind Melon (as opposed to Brad, Rogers, Chris, Glen, and Travis under a different band name) they are able to carry on BM and thus Shannon's spirit while moving forward and fulfilling the potential of a great band. Travis is not Shannon. He is his own artist and does a damn fine job putting on a show along with the rest of the band members. I hope they iron out their issues and can continue because when I go to a BM show w/ Travis...its clear he approximates the sound close enough to do justice to the music, kindle the spirit and give the audience the nostalgia we all love to revel in, but at the same time is one in his own and opens a door to the future for this band. As far as Shinn goes and where I do differ some with Melon4Life, I definitely respect him but think he could work for the band as just as well - and for the same reasons. I'm certain the others in the band will do what is best and they will all eventually get on the same page. It will be an opportunity lost if they do not.

I agree with the above post about the current BM. I sure hope they guys work it out. I love the old stuff, I grew up with it. To have the old again plus new stuff is a dream. The two shows I saw last year were the best of the year. I hope to see BM with Travis again this year, so keep it together guys!

The moment Blind Melon announced Chris Shinn was doing the New Year's show he become a part of Blind Melon, as he would have sung under the name. We all know how that turned out and I'm not trying to debate that. My point is this is a Chris Shinn forum for that reason. If he was part of the band, even for 2 weeks, he is now part of the Blind Melon story. He is hardly off topic. And anyone who didn't like Travis' singing or the fact that the band got back together under the same name should have buggered off long ago. None of that is new. I still don't understand why anyone would have/join a forum if you don't plan on discussing and likely disagreeing at times. It doesn't mean anyone thinks they are in charge, it means they give enough of a crap to have something to say about a band they love.

I dissagree, Chris Shinn is not part of Blind Melon, and is NOT Blind Melon, I think Rogers said it best when he said, Chris Shinn is not Blind Melon, He is UT. If he was to play some shows and write some wrong and make an album with them as Blind Melon, yeah he is. But he is NOT Blind Melon is the reason why none of that happend.

But the fact of the matter is hes not Blind Melon.

i have to agree with tamara, he manned up to be part of bm, they accepted him as a part of bm even if for one show that he didn't get to do. He is/was part of bm. I'm not saying give the guy an honorary member badge but i wish they(BLind Melon) would give some info if travis is still with blind melon or if they are still searchin for a singer. they did say that they had worked things out so i can only wonder. And i also agree with rogers when he said that chris' sound is not blind melon. he's right it would sound pretty wierd. not to knock chriss shinn, he's great with who he is musically and all that but it would make for an interesting show at least once....

The only point I was making was the Chris Shinn is an extremely valid topic in a Blind Melon forum. Especially these days. He was briefly part of Blind Melon. He never ended up doing the show but BM themselves said he was doing the show (initially) as the singer of Blind Melon. I'm not arguing the details or Chris' sound, etc. I'm just saying he is very relevant topic on this board.

I agree 100% with tamara. Chris is a relevant topic on this board. He IS a part of the story.
Lemonade, didn't you post a message on Chris' myspace stating that "it should have always been him"? yet here, your opinion is the complete opposite.

I agree with Tamara too, Chris is a very valid topic on this board. As far as Lemonades feeling regarding Chris, on such a dynamic and sensitive topic, people are bound to change their minds. I know I've hopped back and forth over the fence a couple times. It happens. Lemonade's cool and has a ton of BM knowledge and insight. i have to agree with tamara, he manned up to be part of bm, they accepted him as a part of bm even if for one show that he didn't get to do. I have to refer you to a post made by Matt a couple days ago on another thread. It sums things up pretty well: A lot of the bullshit, and "forum fights" started because people were posting news prematurely (including the MySpace blogs from the members) . I think they are all doing the smart thing by keeping the news under wraps, until something is 100% solid. I'm sure if all of the members were comfortable, and confident about the future, we'd be the first to know... Did i mention that even though i dont post here much i love all of you? Awww, everybody loves you too man! #smileyhug#
