Just a quick FYI: If you are sending messages to Chris Shinn via the Unified Theory MySpace site, they will only be forwarded to his personal MySpace account. Your best bet is to send messages directly to his account: www.myspace.com/cshinnPs - No, he's not really 67 years old. #haha#

I 2nd that Matt, very well put. I don't think any of us will lose faith or respect for anyone involved. Blind Melon will remain our favourite rock n roll soilders and surrogate brothers.

I am sure the band will read these posts. So...
To Blind Melon, you have my love and support. I will go about as if none of this happened. It is just like when I woke up yesterday. Why, because you deserve it. You are showing now, as you have time and time again, that you put others in front of your own needs. Otherwise, you would have called it a day and went home. You are demonstrating what kind of people you really are, even though you don't have to. I love you guys, we love you guys.
To Travis, you have worlds of talent. Your solo stuff is amazing. Reading your MySpace profile list of influences is like reading mine. I will continue to follow your music. That said, I want to also add that it is easier to blow out a match then to put out a house fire. Meaning, I hope there is a lesson learned that open and honest communication, no matter how difficult, would have avoided this. Please know, that I am not suggesting you are a liar. I cast no judgment towards you. Please just learn from this.
To Chris Shinn, thank you for what you are doing for Blind Melon. I do hope that if this is temporary, that we know that ASAP. If this ends up being longer, we will welcome you as we did Travis. This is an awesome family to be in. We all just need our institutions and to make sure they are stable (and happy). Blind Melon is a lot of peoples institutions.
To this forum, you all rule and I love you all... Now I am really fired up about the book project. The band needs something good.
Peace all and much Melon love, Brad

I have always felt that while the internet has brought us wonderful things and an incredible amount of information, the ability to "post first and think later" is one of it's bigger downsides. It sounds like you guys were dealing with quite a bit of that. You obviously put a lot of thought into how to inform us and what you were going to say, and I appreciate that you took the time to address us all directly. That took a lot of courage. Thank you. I am sure the tour with Chris Shin will do well, he also has an amazing voice, and a lot of energy. Is he closer in age to the rest of you? I don't want to come across as an "Ageist" but I deal with a variety of personalities and socially/economically different people on a daily basis online, and I have found there to be a large difference in the mindset and priorities between me (in my early 40s) and the twenty-somethings. This usually seems to become most apparent where it regards responsibilities (although there are always exceptions). Regardless of whether or not things with Travis worked out, it brought the four of you back together, playing music and writing songs. The For My Friends CD is incredible. If Chris Shinn works out on a permanent basis, so much the better. I saw Blind Melon twice in Oklahoma this year, and there is no denying how happy you guys looked to be up there, making the music that makes us feel fine. During Sleepyhouse in Tulsa, I was standing in front of you, Rogers, and seeing you play those notes and the look of satisfaction on your face when you did it exactly right was indescribable. It brought tears to my eyes, because I never thought I would get to see you guys on stage. It was everything I could ever have asked for in a live performance, and I had never even dreamed it would happen. So don't worry overly much. You guys got to take a short break, see your wives and kids (woot!), enjoy the holidays, and then continue doing what you love. You will ALWAYS be Blind Melon, and we will always be your Melonhead fans. And dang it, I had JUST gotten the word to the local rock station that you guys had a "new" lead singer, Travis Warren, released a CD in April and were just in Oklahoma twice during your two year tour. (Thank you, almighty internet). AND I have been bugging the crap out of a die-hard Shannon fan to come and listen to the new stuff, and today he finally cracked and asked for the links to the Brad interview by Finley. I can't figure out if I should tell him or just let him figure it out later. Anyhow, would you mind stopping back through Tulsa/OKC again so I can check out the new guy? I will drive out to the bricktown again, that was a fun trip. Maybe this time I'll get to check out the water taxis! PS- I second what Brad above me there posted. From everything I have seen and heard of the four of you, you are not only amazing and multi-talented musicians, but humble, hard-working and respectable guys who it would be an honor to know as people. There are not a whole lot of famous people and especially not a lot of rock stars I would say that about. My respect for you guys is immense. And PPS - thank you for being so kind to my 13 year old in OKC. It is something he will never forget, and I'm glad that it was in a positive way.

I am so pissed at Shannon for dying on us! I never cared for Travis Warren; I care for the band and the music. I am still excited as hell to see Blind Melon in Towson at the Recher and I am glad that they are moving forward with Chris from Unified Theory. I just hope that Blind Melon perseveres and continues playing music and releasing albums. I am OH SO HAPPY to read that the band will finish the tour and search for a replacement vocalist. I can't wait for this search to begin and end - it's exciting. I never thought too highly of Travis in the first place. I was only happy that the band was playing in a live setting. I REALLY HOPE ROGERS, CHRISTOPHER, BRAD, AND GLEN SEE HOW MUCH THE MUSIC MEANS TO THE FANS AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR THEM TO CONTINUE ON AS A BAND - I sincerely hope that Travis does not bring an end to their resurgence, no matter how difficult it is to find another replacement. I pray that the band does not hang it up when they face difficulty in finding a new vocalist - BECAUSE as someone stated, we the fans can sing the songs. We just need the music.

I will give anyone who is chosen to be a permanent replacement the benefit of the doubt. I think the guys have proven over the last two years the amount of love and respect they have for this band and I don't think it would be fair for them to have to stop doing what they so obviously love to do. They have earned my respect.
BLIND MELON IS A BAND...a band I hope is around for much longer.

WOW this is wild. Travis, if you read this, dont let your amazing gift go to the slums. You can find peace in your life without altering your mind. I remeber 2 or 3 years ago talking to Brad about how much I thought Chris voice was so great. I even said, man I would love to hear him sing some melon songs. I remeber Brad saying , IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! If I am not mistaken didnt Brad and Christopher meet Chris while looking for a new BM singer after Shannon left us? I cant remeber. I hate that Travis is dealing with these demons he has. You are cool dude and a great talent. Chris, THANK YOU I am so pumped to finally here Chris sing some melon! And Brad.....................
