Is anyone excited about this album? I used to enjoy listening to the older stuff and then lost a little love for the band during the whole Napster thing...Now I must admit that I think I am going to buy the album for sure next week.

I saw this advertised on TV yesterday. Let me know how you like it. I was a big fan back in the day myself but lost touch with the band with the napster thing as well.

Brad has been listening to it for the past few days. He is in love with the album. I tease him that he is cheating on BM with Metallica

Wow. I started a Metallica thread here before and didnt get much response so I was curious if anyone here liked em. Any way...
I'll admit, I dl'd it when it leaked (I have already pre ordered it). The temptation was too great.
I wont post a long review here. I will say that it is the best album I have listened to in at least 10 years (sorry BM). I have listened to it 3 times through now and it gives me chills every time.
I mean it, if you love old Metallica, you will find this a "return to form". I would describe it as Master of Puppets meets And Justice with a bit of the Black Album thrown in. The opening song (That Was Just Your Life) rivals Blackened from Justice. Just listen to that one song and you will be hooked. Guaranteed.
My two pennies.
Peace

You are in for a real treat.

i've rushed to judge already... LOL. I havent liked them since Master of Puppets, and "some" of And Justice for All... I heard the new song on the radio and started singing Unforgiven lyrics to it.... So i was immediately discrediting it. Then it picked up in Tempo a bit... and i was like And then at the end got even faster .... I summed it up after it was over by looking at it like this. They rolled 3 different sounding songs up in one for the sake of marketing to ALL the people.... ... lets have our "unforgiven" safe/commercial song for that group and the radio... pick it up near the end for the people to realize we are a rock group... and then Rock it out at the end for the older fans that remember us a a HEAVY band. I'm sure i'll listen to it for the sake of listening to it... but they lost me a long time ago.

I saw them back in.... ermmm.. 92? It was the day after they won a grammy for Best Metal Performance. They put on one hell of a great show.

Just listened to the whole album. I really like it. I must say it rocks pretty hard and I think that people should give it a chance. All Nightmare Long, The Day That Never Comes, The Judas Kiss, and Cyanide are my favorites right now. Plus, My Apocalypse is a great end to the album and leaves me speechless. Metallica is back in a big way and prove that they still have some heavy rock left in them...

I saw them back when they opened for Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour... they were touring for Master of Puppets and Cliff Burton was still with us. Was incredible....
still havent listened to the new album yet. but i WILL give it a chance. like i mentioned... i was very dissapointed by the single, but hell... the "singles" usually arent the greatest songs on the album in my opinion.

Hey, I saw them on that tour as well in Indianapolis. Faith No More opened (so happy to have caught them live) touring for Angle Dust (their best IMHO). Great show. Axsmell Rose sucks though. GNR didnt go on until midnight cause of him. Anyway. Hey twiztid, the single (although I like it) and Cyanide are my two least favorites on this album. They would have been stand outs on anything since Justice. Thats how strong (I think) this album is. Good stuff. Peace
