My thoughts and prayers are with everyone on Gustav's path. I hope that it weakens and causes no major damage and I especially hope that it doesn't go near New Orleans Be safe, everyone!

I've been tracking the hurricane and it's headed straight FOR New Orleans ;( They've evacuated 2 MILLION people from the city and they had armed guards threatening people to leave and telling them that if they stayed they "wouldn't be rescued". That really pissed me off. I understand they are trying to secure the city and get everyone to a safer place but to say that if they stay.. or even worse, what if they COULDN'T leave... they wouldn't come to help them if they needed it. I don't even know what to say.
I truly hope that everyone in the path of the storm is in a safe place. It's gonna be bad, I feel it.

I talked to my parents on Saturday, and they made it out of New Orleans. They are staying with my brother, farther inland (in Jackson, Mississippi).

It's sad that this is happening again, the city has suffered so much already. I'm keeping everyone in my prayers.

I'm worried sick for New Orleans. I hope they fixed the levees. It looks like it's going to hit as a Category 3. I hope everyone got the hell out of there and if the shit hits the fan, the authorities better not leave them hanging this time.
I hope everyone stays safe, especially our Gulf Coast melonheads!
Ryan, I'm glad you're parents made it up to Jackson, I was wondering about them.

Ryan, I'm glad to hear that you're parents have made it to a safer place (atleast for the time being). I also saw that a tornado hit outside of Denver. Are YOU in a safe place? I know you moved even closer to Denver recently, so that had me a little worried.
I've been watching the news on the hurricane and they said that while they did rebuild the levee's, they're not even sure that it will hold a cat 3 storm. I'm stressed out and I don't even live there. We've even had flooding here on my coast. The waves have carried fish and things like jellyfish nearly 40 feet over the sea walls when it was high tide.

Honestly I don't trust that they did a good job on the levees. I expect the worst but hope for the best.

I had power out for four days - and my apartment/loft got flooded out AND I live in Monroe, LA which is about 5 hours north of New Orleans. My family came up from down there - so it was a lot of relatives, humid weather, floods, no electricity and people fighting over sandbags.
Its one of the worst after effects from a hurricane. We didn't have much damage at all compared to the Hurrican Katrina. I'm just glad that my friends and family made it back safe.
Now we are just watching Hurricane Ike and making sure that we stay out of the bad part of the Hurricane. Keep Louisiana in your thoughts!! Thank you guys - ya'll are so wonderful!
