This is more of a happy rant than anything so....lol. So yesterday I was on MySpace and I put up the Dear Ol' Dad video not really expecting anything as far as comment-wise. Soon enough I got 5 messages in my inbox from friends who had previously called Blind Melon "lame", "only had one good song" etc........Well now their comments were "Whoa man that band is really cool", "Do you have anymore songs", etc......So now I have suceessfully gotten 5 friends to start being more openminded and listen to BM. There's just so much satisfaction in creating another Melonhead....=) haha. So I thought I'd just post it up here lol. Hopefully I'll "melonfy" some more friends soon. =) If anyone wants this thread can also be used to post your success stories haha.

I got some people to love Blind Melon but not to a point as I do. They usualy find them just like an "usual" rock band and each time I'm thinking "damn, LISTEN to it! It's so special and so NOT as other bands!"

Well I've had the same friends for over ten years so they know aaaall about my love for Blind Melon, but never really got into them But I did try. It's hard being a lone melon around these parts ...Thank god for the internet. People think I'm a freak, especially when I was planning my trip to the vigil in 2004. People were like "You're travelling to the other side of the world to sit in a cemetary with a bunch of strangers?!!" YEP!! My brother called it my "cult trip" hahaha

i've gotten a bunch of people into melon, my roommate, numerous friends,a while back my little brother called me up and told me he bought the tones of home cd, i got my older brother into em, my oldest brother was a fan already but i still burnt him cd's with all the live shows i had and still send him stuff, i wear my bm shirts all the time and when people ask what blind melon is... i reply the greatest band that ever lived you need to check them out...i used to play it so loud on my floor people would knock on my door and ask me what song that was and what band (normally it would be walk, that seems to be a favorite)

It's hard being a lone melon around these parts ...Thank god for the internet. Yes that is sooo sad and true I know a few Italian people in internet who like Blind Melon, but they aren't much into them. People think I'm a freak, especially when I was planning my trip to the vigil in 2004. People were like "You're travelling to the other side of the world to sit in a cemetary with a bunch of strangers?!!" Speaking about the Vigil, my friends and my FAMILY, think that I'm sooo freak, for spend more than € 1000 for going to a cemetary, in the U.S.A.

Speaking about the Vigil, my friends and my FAMILY, think that I'm sooo freak, for spend more than € 1000 for going to a cemetary, in the U.S.A. Oh yeah...I know so much what you mean...sometimes it just makes me sad although I know it's not worth bothering... Mostly people to who I tell that I want to go to USA to meat other melonheads on a cementary just laugh at me like "haha, yeah right, she's nuts" and mostly I see that they really CAN'T understand (it just happened to me today again...)...Anyway, I know that it doesn't matter what other people think but it still makes me feel good when I see that a friend can understand and respect what I feel and don't think I'm a freak because of the way I feel for Blind Melon and melonheads (for them melonheads are just fans of Blind Melon like there are millions of fans of U2, Robbie Williams, REM or whatever band...I can explain to them that melonheads are special for me but it will be just another reason for them to think that I'm nuts!). Should I change my friends?

I made a mix disc of some of my favorite Blind Melon songs, so that if I find friends who really haven't checked them out, I can let them borrow my "Best of . . . " disc and melonfy/melonize them. Even though I like songs like Car Seat, I leave that to be discovered until after they are hooked. The mix disc is mostly the songs that I think will get someone interested. Then they can discover each of the three albums on their own merit. . .
