Not sure if anyone here is into Metallica, but last night I heard for the first time, the new song they did for the Iron Maiden tribute album. The song is called Remember Tomorrow. Well, if this song is any indication of their upcoming album, it will be 1986 all over again for metal heads. It sounds like it could have been lifted right off of Master of Puppets. I know their popularity has taken a huge hit with the Napster thing and not a whole lot of people are into their recent stuff but damn this song kicks ass!

I won't believe it until I hear it...
One reason why the song sounds like early Metallica probably has to do with the fact that "Remember Tomorrow" came out in 1980.

I lost interest in them after " ...And justice for all" and never could get it back. lots of the stuff all started sounding the same, and hearing your local POP radio playing a Metallica song, followed by a Brittany Spears song just got too weird.

Well, this won't be popular then, they just released the track listing for Death Magnetic and one of the song titles is Unforgiven III. Metallica fans (or used to be fans) are going ape shit ballistic over that one song title. I love em. Always have, always will. I think this new cd will change minds, but we have to hear it first. I feel kinda bad for em. They are trying to give the fans everything they want, but cannot win. Putting the Napster thing aside, musically, they are trying to play the type of music the fans want to hear. They started with St. Anger. I love that cd. Tempo changes, hard ass riffs, no ballads. Still, everybody harps on the production. Sure the drums sound like shit but it doesn't always need to sound perfect to rock out. The Load and Re-Load albums? Experimentation, sure but whats wrong with that. I think their most popular album, the black album, is there worst and most commercial sounding. Anyway... I guess the rambling rant wasn't necessary but I am a fan.
Peace
