I just got back from the show in VT and wow, those guys were amazing. They were all so full of energy and sounded so good. The set list was the same as the previous night in RI. I was in the front row between Travis and Rogers and it was still difficult to hear the band over the crowd they were so into it. Travis was throwing picks, set lists, water bottles, cloths, anything he could get his hands on and people were snatching them out of the air so excited when they caught something. Travis also did his fair share of Shannon-esque rolling around on the ground and staged dived during (I think) Time, which really got the crowd going. He called up a girl to sing No Rain with him too which was cool. It was an amazing show and the band was so happy to see everyone as ecstatic as they were. And has the band said whether or not they allow bootlegging? I know they are making their own recordings at each show (at least the first two) so what I have probably won't bother them but I'd rather be sure. Lol after listening to what I recorded it sounds pretty awful, very muffled, wait for the band's release =

Alright well if anyone wants a copy of what I taped I will upload it but it sounds very muffled, I'm assuming due to where I was standing because my recordings usually come out pretty clear. Also they had 3 t-shirt designs at this show. Each shirt was black, one had the logo from their myspace site like at the previous show, one had their name + the bee girl from the album cover, and the third which I bought had one of Brad's paintings on it. My phone is refusing to connect to my computer so I can't get a picture of it but I think it's a black and white reprint of a design they used in the past.

Last night at Higher Ground was pretty amazing. I'm biased because I have been listening to these guys for 15 years or so, and never seen 'em until now, so not only was it a great performance with awesome energy, but it was a pretty emotional thing... And that was a palpable feeling among the whole crowd- one guy I'd never met before turned to me between songs and said "This sounds cheesy but I am so happy to finally be close to this music". They went on about 9:30 or 10. Like I said, GREAT energy from the band. They just own that shit. Travis's voice shines. He sings in his own voice, but it does justice to the original singer and melody. They played a lot of my favorite old tunes, hearing Sleepyhouse, Drive and Time was too sweet. In a room packed with people who feel such a connection to the music, there's no way it can't hit you like a bus. I liked the new songs. The crowd energy dipped a little when they played stuff that not everybody there recognized, but it never stayed down for long. The new tunes seemed a little poppier to me, not in a bad way, and you can tell that the lyrics are written from a different point of view, Travis's, not Shannon's. They're more direct and not as trippy and ethereal, at least what I caught of em. But they're not trying to re-invent anything, which is cool. They're being true to their roots, writing what they feel, and the result is some great music. I've always been almost surprised at how many BM fans I meet up here, most of my friends when I was younger didn't really get it. Since I moved to VT, we rock out to them pretty regularly and last night was just like "Fuck yeah guys, it's real, they're back, we made it!!!" And after the show, meeting the guys was a treat. Even when I, like a total dumbass, called Brad "Travis" even though it said BRAD on his fucking shirt... hahahahaha... Well I was many beers down, and a little too excited to have much sense then. I was also fending off chicks who were tryin to steal my marker so the guys could sign their sexy bodies. [Edit: don't worry folks, I shared that marker] I still managed to hunt down all the guys (and colleen, the filmmaker/singer) to sign this old guitar of mine: I bought that 10 years ago with my allowance money, so I could play some Blind fuckin Melon! Thanks for bringing it back guys, you can never know how much we appreciate it.

The show was amazing. If I recall correctly, they came on around 9:50 and played until around 11:30. It was pouring out when I got there but the crowd didn't care. THE SHOW WAS AWESOME!!! It was everything that I expected it to be. The guys played well and Travis was right on. He fits so well with the band. The set list was the same as the other shows.
It was a blast. I got to meet the guys after the show and it was thrilling. They were all really cool. Travis is soooo down to earth. Can't wait til Pittsburgh.

Another amazing night. Impossible not to be. The sound at the Canal Room was WAY better than Providence. Talking to Christopher afterwards he thought the energy at the Providence gig was better - it being the first night it was impossible not to be i guess - but myself and a bunch of forum melons were right down in front last night and everybody in our vicinity was just having a blast. the band was even tighter last night than they were on Sunday and you could hear Travis so clearly. He really shines. He's a great fit, a great voice. I just don't have enough good things to say about him.
Same set as was mentioned.
Danny Clinch played harmonica on Change!! wow!
I met so many forum melons last night. Joel, Kacie, Karen, pennyfiasco....really great to meet everyone!!
Rogers hit a bad note on one of the new songs (can't remember which one) and he made the bitter beer face. he looked up right at me and i shouted "nodody noticed!" and he cracked up and made a hysterical face. it's just an example of the type of interaction you can have with these guys on this tour. We even shared a laugh about it afterwards.
God, I love this band.
pics, vids....on the way!

I keep reading these reviews and looking at the pictures over and over and I get so happy and emotional. I know there were a bunch of Forum people at the canal room show, that is so exciting! I can't wait to meet some of you in Pittsburgh!

tripticket, if you're contemplating getting a guitar signed, I just left it in the trunk of my car and after the show grabbed it and brought it back in. A roadie saw me and immediately showed me to where the guys were hanging out. I wouldn't use a "valuable" axe unless you plan on getting a certificate of authenticity or video proof or something. I hear they don't have any resale value unless you have that stuff.
That said, resale was not on my mind at all- the sentimental value of this guitar is now thru the roof. Every time I look at it I have a hard time tearing my eyes away...
If you have too much gear with ya... Why not get em to sign a harmonica or something?
ACK! I gotta find a way to get to another one of these shows!!!!
