Aw, yeah, you're right, I see different categories now. Damn, I knew it was weird and too good to be true but you never know, lol. So I guess the cheapest one right now is 18.000$. Well, what can you expect, it's a motorhome after all, they aren't cheap, heh. Gas is cheap there!!! In Slovenia it costs about 4,7$/gallon! And in Slovenia it's cheap comparing to other european countries. In France for example, it costs much more... Haha, those motorhomes look much better than a lot of appartmenets I lived in Yeah, I think we can forget about renting one

Also, when you buy RV's I believe they often set it up like a mortgage... like a few hundred dollars per month etc. (Ideal if you had LOTS of time, like a summer to travel) you'd have to qualify for a loan etc. from the bank... but if you sold it after... ya never know! It could wind up costing not so much....? Oh, but then there are always hidden costs like down payments and closing costs.... so it may not work out.
So... how would you get a loan from a bank... #idea#
Also, I remember I had lots of friends who would tent out all summer so they didn't have to pay rent, and they's go to the local rec center/gym and pay for a guest pass and shower. I don't know which would be better... I am sure either would be fine!
... and there are lots of places/ camping sites, etc. motel-type places that have signs that say $5 showers, etc. heheh, the price could have gone up.
Oh well, that's all I can offer off the top of my head at the moment.
I wish I was young and free and able to consider road-trippin with a unch of friends--- 'specially a melon tour!
I only wanted to be 16....... and free-ee! Have Fun!

As strange as this may seem LOL, I know someone who owns a bus and rents it out. I'm going to ask him how much it is to rent. I imagine you also need a special license to drive it.

So... how would you get a loan from a bank... #idea# Loan? Oh, come on, we're rich melons No really, I was actualy thinking if it would be really cheap we wouldn't loan money, we would buy it with the money we wanted to pay for the rent. Yes, I know, I'm a huge dreamer...haha. You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one... Now you know why I LOVE this song so much. Anyways, it COULD be worth it if our trip would be REALLY long but I don't think this will happen. I just wanted to know for how much they sell old motorhomes and I saw it's too much. Also, I remember I had lots of friends who would tent out all summer so they didn't have to pay rent, and they's go to the local rec center/gym and pay for a guest pass and shower. I don't know which would be better... I am sure either would be fine! But they still had to pay to put up the tent in a camping no? Can you camp in wild places there? Here it's illegal although I already did it. But when a place is a little turistic they might have controls and checking if there's no one camping outside an official camping place. ... and there are lots of places/ camping sites, etc. motel-type places that have signs that say $5 showers, etc. heheh, the price could have gone up. Wow, 5$ isn't that cheap for a shower. In this case the best option would be that we all go in one shower at the same time I will bring my swimming suit Oh well, that's all I can offer off the top of my head at the moment. I wish I was young and free and able to consider road-trippin with a unch of friends--- 'specially a melon tour! I only wanted to be 16....... and free-ee! Have Fun! Thanks! You can still consider finding someone to look after your kids and take the trip with us As strange as this may seem LOL, I know someone who owns a bus and rents it out. I'm going to ask him how much it is to rent. I imagine you also need a special license to drive it. Hey, that could be cool too! Yes, please ask him! You're right about the driving licence though, this makes me wonder if you need a special one for the motorhome too? I should ask Paul if he has something more than B-category (not sure if it's called the same there) since he drives rally, lol. But a rally car is still just a car...lol.

Hello family!..I`m back! ;D
This all sounds very interesting.I realize it`s a big thing and need alot of planning and all the Melons who would participate in this to join forces.Which probably won`t be a huge problem.Maybe this is to early to ask but how long would this "trip" take?..This is my absolute favourite way of travelling in The States(if possible) and i will try to help as much as i can but...Have to get some more info though. I`m staying in the US for about 4 weeks.Maybe that ain`t enough time to be travelling in a motorhome. Wouldn`t everybody have to get there and leave the same time so it wouldn`t cost more for the others?..I don`t know....I`ll keep my ears open for this one.
Shine On!

I think you do need a special license to drive a motor home but there might be an exception if you have a foreign drivers license.....I guess if you are certified there it would be ok here?

This is a link to the Recreations Vehicle Rental Association. There's links for rentals across the US and Canada. www.rvra.org/I also read on another site that average prices start at $875 a week for a small RV. That's crazy ;/ You also have to pay extra fees to run the generator (which operates electricity, air conditioning, etc), as well as insurance. found this one. They have the online quotes where you can estimate what the price will be for the amount of days gone, extras, etc. Split between a few people wouldn't be that bad. www.usarvrentals.com/

lol, you're right Barb, a loan?!? I guess I was babbling and brainstorming at the same time. My father used to own one, and his monthly payments were absurdly cheap...it was like $100 or something per month, because they set it up like a mortgage... long term. I guess I was thinking that if someone was able to actually buy it, and a month would only cost like $100, then you sold it when you were done... that would cheap! But, too much thinking maybe for that. And risky too, if it didn't sell of course. Yes, I am a dreamer too... and I am not the only one I love that song too ooooh, if I could go that would be great. But I am not counting on it. It is hard to find someone to watch my kids for a length of time. But I won't rule it out that's for sure! Oh I hope Ishy's friend has some good options for that!

I think this is a lot, I don't think I'll have enough money to stay longer, probably even less than that. You're right about how it would be best to get there and leave at the same time, I was thinking about that. It can make it a little complicated... Maybe european melons could all agree on a date and take plane tickets for (aproximatly) the same day. For american melons I suppose it all depends where the band will be so it's too early to talk about it. I think you do need a special license to drive a motor home but there might be an exception if you have a foreign drivers license.....I guess if you are certified there it would be ok here? I have to find out more about this. My dad thinks you don't need a special license here but he's not sure... This is a link to the Recreations Vehicle Rental Association. I didn't think about extra fees and insurance though #paranoid_02# But maybe we don't need electricity...we'll take a bunch of candles, lol. We won't be staying in the motorhome anyway, it's just to have a place to sleep and to be able to travel freely. Shana, since you plan on comming to the vigil and you already have a Blind Melon tour bus (remember the old thread, haha) would you be interested in this too?

Hm, I'm not sure I understand...so someone would take a loan to buy the motorhome and pay $100 per month...but that would mean he would pay this during years to pay back the whole motorhome no? Or yes, if we'd sell it before leaving the states, the person could just put the money back on his account...it could work but it's true that it sounds risky...

I have to find out more about this. My dad thinks you don't need a special license here but he's not sure... In Finland you need a special license and I think it's the same in other European countries too.. But I don't know about America..

I was looking on government auction websites yesterday and I found where one county is auctioning some of their "Activity Buses" (they look like school buses). Greg and I were saying it would be fun to buy one and then make it into a hippie bus...rip out all of the seats inside and pimp it out.
