yeah i'm a big fan too although i haven't listened to em in a while. i've got just about every thing they've done. my fav song is self destrucion, final on further down the spiral #rock#
i heard a few tracks off the new album and it didn't sound too original. i think trent needs to change things up a little bit. i guess what i'm saying is i know they're an industrial band but maybe make an album a little more rock oriented, well it doesn't have to be rock, just change the sound, break some new ground and mix things up.
but it's great we didn't have to wait another decade for an album or however long that was

I was super into NIN when Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral were released. I saw a couple live shows which were intense. I don't think I've listened to them since a couple years ago when Greg and I were on a road trip and we popped Pretty Hate Machine into the cd player and talked about what a great album it was/is. My interests gravitated away by the time I graduated from high school so I haven't followed or heard anything Trent has done since The Downward Spiral.

Well I created this thread when with teeth came out so it would seem slightly appropriate that a new album would revive this dead thread. Trent Reznor just released Ghosts I-IV a 36 track instrumental album described as "music for daydreams" . The cd is released in a 4 cd format you can check out the first one "Ghosts I" for free on the website in the order section ghosts.nin.com/ or you can download the torrent from his offcial section on pirate bay thepiratebay.org/user/NINOfficial/ Thats right he has an official account on tpb as well as many private torrent sites I'm on. So check out the first "cd" and if you like it 5 bucks will get you all the "cds" part of the album as well as other high quality digital stuff like pdf booklet, wallpapers etc.

I'm currently listening to the first free part of the ghost albums....it's fantastic! deff. ordering the standard physical discs of ghost......I haven't heard of it till I saw this thread.. thanks for the heads up.......... I guess what i'm saying is I like everything but the year zero album.....it kinda dissapointed me .. cheers buddy!!

I bought the $10 package a day after it came out. Sadly my DL didn't work for me, in fact I don't think my comp can handle 270 MB in one sitting. If it was cut up into 4 different downloads then it would've been fine. In fact, if one of you guys got the 320 mp3 version and wanted to cut it up into ghosts 2, 3, and 4 and then throw it on sendspace or megaupload... that'd be great. Of course I don't expect that. Would be a lot of work.
Ghost I is really good.
For NIN in general:
-TDS is my favorite, an epic story that after 20-30 listens becomes like a great play almost. -Then With Teeth, which feels like a modern PHM in the sense of turning pop songs upside down and making them really dark. Only is maybe my favorite NIN song. -The Fragile, which is musically insane and well done big production. Sometimes the concept seems real forced and the lyrics don't line up as well as the music. Still some amazing music. -Broken, pure anger. Wish, Last, Gave Up... good stuff. -Pretty Hate Machine, which can be very cheesy but was a major album in music history with some amazing moments. Head Like a Hole comes to mind. -Year Zero, NIN's best or second-best lyrically, but the music wasn't really music. Some good songs, and the ARG is interesting at some points, but overall it's disappointing.

I have to say BROKEN is my fav. album,it had it all, but it was such a short cd, if only he would have pumped out more songs during his broken era...

I'm a pretty big fan of NIN. I still have yet to get the ghost's. I really wish that he would release a tour schedule at some time soon. My favorite release is Broken by far, followed by PHM, DS, Fragile, WT, and YZ. I saw them in 2006 which was one, if not the best show I've ever saw. It'll be interesting to see him performing by himself live.
