Anyone else a fan? They're one of my favorite bands, I just got their new record, not as good as their last one but it was definitely worth the money. www.myspace.com/modestmouse

A friend of mine once burned "his best of" compilation for me and there was a few Modest Mouse songs. I loved them! Every time I played the CD and Modest Mouse came on I was thinking "hey, that's a cool song" and looked on the song list he gave me to check which band it was...it was always Modest Mouse, hehe. Probably my favorite songs of all he gave me.

They're harder rocking than their new stuff, not that I don't love all their new albums they just remind me of RHCP in the sense that when they started out they were like fuck it we play however we want and then after they started selling a bunch of records they kinda started aiming for pleasing the masses instead being true to themselves. Still great music, I have all their albums.

yeah i always wondered how that worked out.
did these bands change their sound to get more money? did they get a producer who changed their sound? is it becuase they are getting older?
i read an interview last week with the modest mouse singer talking about how the whole band is pretty much sober now and he just has a few drinks before shows and smokes weed. so is it bc they quit doing drugs?
but rhcp are a perfect example...their first couple albums compared to stadium arcadium..SA is so damn poppy, but it's a damn good album...i read somewhere it's becuase john frusciante is the driving creative force behind the band now, who knows...

About the Chili Peppers, i dont know what has happened... ive listened to Stadium Arcadium once, and havent touched it since... i think mtv, much like what was done to U2, overplayed their stuff, which has now been catered to the masses... Anthony has always had sloppy lyrics, but Hump de Bump, what a joke (just watch the film clip)...
i am a diehard RHCP fan and i hate to say these things, but they went from brilliant funk in the 80s to unbeatable rock in the 90s, and started off the 00s with a solid record in By the Way, then done this... only good thing about it is Frusciante, i think he has outgrown the rest of the band... he just shits all over them in brilliance, but wastes his time on crappy songs... in saying that though my favourite Chili album is One Hot Minute, which doesnt have him on it, isnt that strange...
Now im getting off topic... i havent really listened to much Modest Mouse, but if god Johnny Marr can bring his Smiths brilliance, ill probably love the band... MARRdest Mouse i will call it... lol...

I really like john frusciante's solo music but yeah there are a lot of songs that seem hurried, I think if he spent the amount of time he spends making two or three albums on one album and got a better producer he would most likely be making some sick albums.
