I didn`t find a thread for Janis Joplin here so i thought i`d start one.. I`m sure there`s at least a few here that appreciate her. To me Janis is one the great ones.Easily the best female singer of all time. Her raw, powerful voice which at the same time had so much passion and sensitivity.
I absolutely love Janis Joplin! She had such a powerful soulful voice. She was a great performer too...I love watching old footage of her singing. Has anyone seen the documentary Festival Express? If you are a fan of Janis or The Grateful Dead or The Band it's a must see.
Gone much too soon, but never forgotten.
Watched the dying day Blushing in the sky Everyone is uptight So come on night Everyone is gone Home to oblivion

I haven`t seen that but as soon i get the chance i will watch it..
There are some excellent live performances on it. It also shows very intimate moments of the bands all hanging out together as they toured Canada via train. It was seriously one big party.

She actually has a very similar voice to Shannon's. If you ever hear Shannon sing "Mercedes Benz" he sounds just like her.
I agree with you totally!.. Shannon and Janis were so much alike. Both Shannon and Janis were passionate and loving people, amazing songwriters and amazing singers, kind of similar voice. Also there`s similarities on the darker side of the two.Drugs, same cause of death, dying young.

I have an old Classic Rock magazine and there`s quite a few pages about Janis. The train-tour is included..Yea,it seemed to be some party..Janis said something like this..."There were 300 men on the train and i only got laid 75 times" Or something close to that. Haha!.
Yeah, Festival Express was an amazing documentary! I really want to buy that one! Can you imagine partying on a train with Janis and the Grateful Dead, and all of those others? That must have been so cool.

And Janis, OMG. She is amazing! My favorite tune from her is "Down on Me".
I don`t think i can even imagine how awesome it would have been on that train..Late 60`s,non stop partying, going from concert to concert...We can only dream..
For me it`s hard to choose a favourite Janis song but Cry Baby has always been played alot in my stereo..Something special about her voice in that song,so raw it almost hurts..
patzeller: ive seen the band in MN in 2015, Denver (home) in 2016 and last night in Chicago. Despite Brad missing, the bands chemisty was the best I’ve ever seen. Awesome awesome show. Guess I’ll be heading to Edmonton in June!

jaakko: Hi there! I´m new here! Straight to the question... Is there any possibilities that Blin Melon would tour somewhere in europe someday? I need to see and hear my all time favourite band live before I die. Do I need to fly to U.S.A?

crobar: Anyone know who played the harmonica lead in the song "change" at woodstock '94?
Jun 4, 2019 16:53:44 GMT -5
crobar: If you watch the video on youtube for "Change" at woodstock '94, a dude is welcomed out on stage to play the lead harp. Shannon thanks him but you can't hear the name. The guy killed it and I'd like to know who he is/was. Any help is appreciated.
