Not at all. His first album was recorded mostly acoustically, but he has a full band when he plays live.

I really wish I were responsible for these pictures, but we left the camera in the car, so I got these from someone else. They're much better than ones I probably would have gotten anyway! The concert was incredible! I'm still not quite believing that I saw him at my college auditorium. I've performed on that stage a few times! I heard that alot of the people there had never really heard Damien Rice before and they left as fans. My husband went with me didn't know really what to expect. He thought it was going to be some soft acoustic concert, and he ended up blown away! They have a new concert and onstage series going on and are bringing more and more great performers here. I'm going to try to get involved as much as I can living 30 minutes away and with two kids I've already brought up the idea of booking Blind Melon and they're looking into it ;D So, back to the concert. He opened with Le Professor then probably played four or five songs before he spoke to us, but he didn't hold back anything as far as his performance goes. I felt our podunk Kentucky audience got everything that every other audience does He did Cannonball out on the stage with no mic, just him, his guitar, and a soft accompaniment. It was beautiful! He closed with Coconut Skins which I don't think I've seen him do before, and jammed out at the end, finishing with an intense drum solo. That drummer was amazing! I've heard alot of people say it's just not the same without Lisa, but I totally disagree. The only song I kind of missed her on was 9 Crimes. I've been to alot of great concerts and that definetely ranked near the top. Here are some pics again!

Do you know why Lisa isn't touring with him? I think she's incredible, but he's very intense on his own and doesn't need her to put on a kickass show. I can imagine 9 Crimes would sound odd without her. Sounds like you had a great time! I wish he would come to NC sometime. You're lucky you got to see him! I bet he converted a ton of new fans. I really believe he needs to be experienced live to fully appreciate what he's capable of.

Here's the only statement that was released about the split: An official statement read, “After much thought and discussion Damien has decided that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has run its creative course. As a result Lisa will not be appearing at any of the upcoming live shows. Lisa is embarking on her own artistic endeavours and there are no plans for them to work together in the foreseeable future. The current band on tour at the moment are Damien Rice, Joel Shearer, Shane Fitzsimons, Tom Osander and Vyvienne Long.” Sounds like something may have went down between the two, but who knows. Maybe she just decided to do her own thing, but like I said, it didn't really make a difference. I agree about needing to see him live. I watched him play bonnaroo on the at&t blueroom and some other performances on youtube, so I kind of knew what to expect, but it was so fun to see my husband just completely surprised at what Damien is capable of I posted another thread about an artist I found, Alain de Courtney. I saw him do a cover of Volcano on youtube. You all should really check out his original stuff! I'm completely stupid for his music now

That's too bad. I hadn't known it was an official split. I haven't been in the loop too much recently I guess. Thanks for posting that info. I'm sure she'll have a great career on her own but I will definitely miss the way she and Damien compliment each other musically.
