I come and read these websites about Shannon alot!!! I just thought I would share a story with all of you. I am from lafayette and grew up with a step brother who was close to Hoon. His name is Steve, I will leave it at that for privacy reasons. Jim, Rooster, and Shannon would all come over to my house to smoke weed. They laughed alot and were extremely goofy. Once they got high they beat up on the lil brother, which was me! yeah i was young and an easy target. But for some reason I really liked shannon. he was passionate and maybe the most talented singer that never got his due! I hear shannon sing today and I often think of blind melon as a Lynyrd Skynard type band. I know this new guy they are bringing to the band is not bad but Shannons sounds like and instrument when he sings and you just cant replace that. I heard him sing in Lafayette at small bar when he was with his first band. I knew he was headed for greatness when he sang Cats n the Cradle and the silver spoon!!! It was great. I really miss buying his albums. There isnt a day that goes by that I dont think about those days and how much fun those older guys were.
If you have any stories about shannon and maybe meeting him stories please share. BAD or GOOD

Hi Hoopstar, thanks for sharing your story....I live 13 miles east of Lafayette, in Rossville...I have lived also in Lafayette on and off since I graduated high school in 1983....including in the summer of 1984, which is when I met Shannon...that's when I started "partying" (which I don't do anymore, but I'm still a fun chick!) and we were a part of the same scene. I have already introduced myself and shared some memories and I don't want to be repetetive....I don't have alot, I was just in love with him as were all my friends...he was beautiful, you just didn't want to take your eyes off of him. I saw him sing at Nick's with Styff Kitten...and he squirted me with his water bottle from the stage....I loved it of course...any ounce of attention from him was treasured and stored and I'm still living off those little snippets! I visit the cemetary often, I like to be there one on one...I went to last year's Vigil, it was my first one...don't know why I was scared to go before, I really don't ever want to miss another! I am really not very good with computers....I think I started a thread here at one time looking for other, as I call them Hoontown Melons....anyways, nice to hear from one!
