Mine was the morning of the GnR gig at Milton Keynes bowl and BM were supporting. I'd never heard of them and then suddenly I Wonder came on the telly. I thought it was rubbish at the time (it's a hard song to love first time!!), but when I saw them live, they blew me away. My girlfriend and I bought a copy of the CD each!

Yikes, for me I must have been 12ish or 13ish and it was when the No Rain video played on MTV, at that age if I wasn't in school I was talking on the phone with boys and watching MTV religiously. I was really into Guns N Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, but after seeing that video I realized there is something better out there, No Rain put a skip in my step and Ive been a fan ever since growing to appreciate the much better Blind Melon songs. In my last year of High School I was homeless and that first album was played on my walkman non stop along with Tori Amos's Little Earthquakes, it was a great escape.

Me Too.I remember seeing The No Rain Video & hearing it all over the radio.I liked it to a certain point but not enough to go buy the whole record.I had no way of knowing what the rest of the 1st album? sounded like & no idea how much this band would come to mean to me. I fell in love with them after hearing Soul One in the parking lot at work in 96.I heard parts off of a few other songs but it was Soul One that got this Melon Hooked.Wow!About12 yrs.ago.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until 1998 when I saw the No Rain video that I became hooked. I saw it at school while in an independent study class where we would always screw off and watch mtv! After hearing it I went home and checked out 30 sec. clips of songs from Blind Melon and Soup. I immediately went and bought both albums! Ever since I have been hooked. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not a little bummed out about missing their first run. I am so glad that I have the chance to see what I am seeing and hearing now!!!

1994. my family was on vacation to lake junaluska in north carolina and my sisters had a room in this lake house we rented. i was about 10 and wasnt cool enough to hang out with them so i would just hang out in the family room area and play my bo jackson electronic baseball game. i remember sitting on the couch and hearing no rain waft outta their room. i was at that point where i knew of music but it wasnt like my thing yet. i just remember sitting outside their door on the floor getting blown away. they must have played it 20 times. i remember thinking, 'wow so this is what all the fuss is about. music IS amazing.' it wasnt till later i realized blind melon was amazing and alot of music is not. they had the first album on tape so i got them to play it all the way back to alabama for me. great childhood memory.

I was very young (maybe 6?) and I can't remember the first time I heard them but I know it was No Rain and the video for it. I was obsessed with music (still am) and all I would do is watch VH1 and Mtv (back when they played music and not reality tv). My favorite bands were Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana, but I loved No Rain and have been hooked on Blind Melon since.

I was about thirteen when I heard No Rain on the radio in the car while waiting for my mom to come out of a dr's appointment. I was amazed not just by the song itself, but the crazy sound of this guy's voice, and just the way they all played like a bunch of hippies lol. I immediately went out and found out who the hell it was and listened to the rest of the album... haven't stopped since.

The first time I heard Blind Melon was when No Rain came on MTV but the first time I really LISTENED and got hooked was when my boyfriend at the time put on the self-titled he bought in Canada. It did something special to me right away. I copied it on tape and then listened to it on my walkman on my way to school and back for months. I never felt so close to any other music.

I went out with a friend of mine in the fall of 92', crusing the seedy side of Columbus MS. He handed me a hit of acid and we stayed out until about 5 that morning. Sometime during the evening, we ran into some friends. One of them had won a promo cd from the local college station. He had no idea who this "Blind Melon" band was so I ended up trading him some weed for the cd. I forgot I had it until I was laying in bed at 5am unable to sleep. I popped it in the cd player on the headboard and scrolled through tracks 1-4 listening to the first 10 seconds or so of each song. I hit #5 and listened to Dear Ol' Dad over and over. I was sold. I saw them in November that year and the rest is history.

i was about 12 it was about 2001 and my friends brother who i later ended up dating was on the computer downloading music as usual, it must have been some time in the middle of the night cause my friend was sleeping he called me down and told me that there was this amazing band that he had loved since he was little, their oldest brother is a fan, He thought i might like it and proceeded to call me a hippy. the first song i heard was Paper Scratcher, it was the Saturday Night Live performance, he then played walk for me it was hooked we spent the rest of the night drinking beers and jamming to Blind Melon. from that moment on i've been a fan. the music really reached out to me and touched my soul.
I really loved all of your story's i absolutely love reading about other people experiences with the band.
