Brad is definitely the most awesomist (!) of bass players...as someone mentioned here, his groove is something that always kept the Melon songs together and his harmonies are fantastic as well. I was lucky enough to meet him in Pittsburgh and while stammering on about how great he is and how much I loved melon and how his bass playing inspired me to pick it up myself, he just smiled and said "man, you should listen to someone good" ;D a terrific bass player, and producer but most importantly a really decent, humble guy. i waited to 15 years to meet him and i have to say i was not let down. and he rocked the devil horns with me

Brad Smith is cool! I tagged along to go to starbucks w/ him in Portland, but they were closed. It was great to talk to him for a few minutes. I can't say enough good things about him, just a great guy. I was surprised when I met him how at ease I felt. I wasn't nervous or uncomfortable at all, because he is just a regular dude who is keeping it real and is very down to earth, who also happens to be one of my favorite musicians ever. I told him his bass playing always sounds happy. That's a real happy bass, and it makes me feel happy. I absolutely love Abandon Jalopy as well, thanks for that B-Rad. Brad played drums, guitars, bass, and nearly everything else on that record! That's talent right there!!!

I have been playing bass for over 20 years and Brad is one of my heros. I told him after the Bowling Green gig that I rank him with Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) he said "Oh Stop it!" haha!
Rock on Brad

Ok women, please try to control yourselves. You are making us guys sick.
Yeah, Brad is an awesome bass player, singer and songwriter. Having met him 3 or 4 times since 92 he is also cooler than an ice cream sandwich.
I have been playing bass for 20 years now and can only hope one day I can put it down like he does. Incredible chops this guy! I can't get enough. Rock on Brad.
I know this is the Brad appreciation page but ALL of these guys are awesome. What a great mesh of chemistry. I hope in 15 more years I am still seeing them live and itching for more new albums.

I gotta say I really LOVE his t-shirt! I think we should all make Brad shirts and wear them to the shows. I think it would be funny.

Sonya, Kristen, Gabby, Meredith, Ryan, Keith and myself all wearing Brad shirts in the front row. That would be funny as hell. We'd look like a bunch of weirdos. I think we should do it for shock value at least.
