I got to hang with Rodgers this past weekend and I think he hit on alot of what Brad was saying. I think from talking to Rodgers that this first small tour will decide what the band will do next. So guys we really need to support this first tour, which will not be a problem I am sure. They have full control without trying to make a record company happy. Lucky dog, hanging with Mr. Rogers! I'm so jealous!

The fringe jacket part was the best part of the entire interview. I'm sure that would be a hot little item at the merch table. I think Brad should dazzle us by wearing one on stage every night and then throw it out into the crowd at the end of the show. #haha#

Other interviews that I have heard (with any other band as well) ... I haven't heard the interviewers ask... It's either editted out of the interview... or, they really never asked... Much like the Chip interview with Shannon... Chip never asked... he very well may have scheduled a recorded interview.. I guess we'll never know. I think when you're "officially" interviewing a band for a publication, it's assumed that you'll be recording the conversation. I've never once asked a band if it was okay if I taped the call (I've probably interview 300 bands, give or take a few ). I guess I never gave it much thought. Hmmm ... Side story ... I interviewed Brian (singer) of Silversun Pickups earlier this year. Unfortunately, I forgot to hit "record" and 2 minutes after hanging up after talking for 25 minutes, I discovered my mistake. I called him right back and told him what happened. I asked if it was okay if I made up some quotes and then sent them to him via email for his approval (or to edit if he wanted) and he was like "Yeah man, that's really cool that you'd even ask." I ended up just calling him back a week later and redoing the interview (the magazine I did it for went from asking for a 600-word feature to a 2,000 word feature and I knew there was no way I could make up that many quotes off the top of my head!). Downloading the Brad interview now, can't wait to hear it.

Greg is the only man who can rock a fringe jacket for my viewing pleasure...not that he owns one...or ever would...believe me I tried to talk him into leather pants at one point in time but he wasn't havin' it.

I'm sure they'll hit a venue near you.... No worries my friend. I think when you're "officially" interviewing a band for a publication, it's assumed that you'll be recording the conversation. I've never once asked a band if it was okay if I taped the call (I've probably interview 300 bands, give or take a few ). I guess I never gave it much thought. Hmmm ... Yea, I'm sure it's assumed. I'm just speaking on legal terms (ie. if someone were to interview Travis, and doesn't ask for recording permission... Later Travis finds the interview online. He'd win a court case, if he chose to file, for.... ermmm.. I think it's Invasion of Privacy.

Here ya go Chip... "Before we begin, you should know that tapping phones without permission is obviously very illegal. Recording a phone call, even your own, is possibly illegal too. This site does not condone breaking and state or federal laws when tapping and/or recording a phone call. There are state laws and federal laws that you should check before you start recording phone calls. A good source for checking this is Can We Tape which is a great guide to state and federal laws. The federal Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2510 et seq., prohibits the willful interception of telephone communication by means of any electronic, mechanical, or other device without an applicable exemption. In the absence of more restrictive state law, it is permissible to intercept and record a telephone conversation if one or both of the parties to the call consents. Consent means authorization by only one participant in the call; single-party consent is provided for by specific statutory exemption under federal law. 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2511(2)(d).That’s just federal law. Your own state law might have stricter laws on taping. And if you’re calling someone in another state, THEIR state might have even stricter laws on it. In the end, if you get into some kind of trouble over recording a phone call, they can use whatever federal or state law they want against you. Even if it’s a state law from the state of the person you called and not your own state." www.phonelosers.org/article/recording_telephone_callswww.rcfp.org/taping/
