I'm sure it's pretty common, but just as i'm starting to sleep i always hear voices and that, like loud random thoughts, or its as if i'm standing outside in a crowd of people and they're all talking, but not to me, sometimes to me, i dont know. Anyways. I haven't slept since saturday, nothing new there. Insomnias come back and decided to kick me in the arse again. I'm fucking nakered. I do want to sleep. Badly. I went to try and sleep two hours ago And I honest to god feel like i have just been laying here opening and closing my eyes every few minutes. Everytime i close them i hear all this stuff and when i do finally manage to pull myself out and open my eyes i for that moment feel freaked out like what i heard is really important and i'm thinking to myself "no no no don't do that again" as i'm closing my eyes again i really dont want to It took me two hours to literally just stop it. I feel like my mind is on overdrive 24/7 and i can't stop it. Actually a better way to describe is that i feel like i'm on one of those cartoon trains that go really really fast down hill and the brakes don't work. When i wake up i always have to turn the bedroom light on for the rest of the night because i'll scare myself with thoughts of things i could see if i looked into a certain part of the room or looked out of the window or something, and i think of the worst thing i could see or hear and it breaks me out into a sweat borderline panic attack. I feel like i'll faint if i dont turn the light on in time and actually see something i really dont want to. It's all abit child-ish and fucked up really i guess....... i dont know. I don't really know what i'm expecting anybody to say about this I just want to get it off my chest and tell somebody. I'm gunna go see my doctor, but i've mentioned to him before about the insomnia and he didn't take me very seriously so i have real trouble with mustering up the will to go and see him ... I dunno, Does anyone else have these problems at night?

well personally when I can't go to sleep I smoke a bowl but since some people don't do that and you might be one of them I'd recommend melatonin it occurs naturally in all organisms and helps you sleep not to mention give you pretty vivid dreams. You can get it here at any health supplement store not sure about there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin

Oye, I am up right now. Hang in there Bums. It does sound like you may be struggling with a little more than insomnia though. Maybe your doctor can help you. I experienced similar fears years ago, along with the insomnia, irritability, etc. Pure exhaustion. I went to my doctor and said that something was really wrong with me.... and thought I must be really losing it. She decided to do some blood work to see if there was anything physically imbalanced before prescribing any medication. It turns out that my fasting blood sugar levels were extremely low, in fact it was 11 points BELOW the "low end of the normal range". It was called hypoglycemia. I had to make some drastic shifts in my diet and really focus on taking care of myself. My doctor prescribed some sleeping pills for one week, as well as suggested some melatonin, as Bogo suggested, to take at bedtime, so I could retrain my body's "time clock" to remember what normal sleeptime would be etc. I am not sure if what I experienced is the same as what you are, but insomnia is extremely exhausting and frustrating. Stress and hormonal imbalances is what initiated my bout of this. (I had just had my first child, who was almost one year old at the time I decided to go to the doctor about this). Hang in there, drop me a pm if you feel like it.

Hey, cheers. Yeah i had blood tests almost exactly a year ago cuz i've had this problem for a while, ya know? But i dont think my doc took me very seriously. He said my blood sugars and all that stuff are fine, then he put on antidepressants.
I'm supposed to be on them right now but i spent alot of time fucking around with them and using them to get fucked up at parties and stuff... and then i stopped taking them during the summer because i was going abit downhill at that time. My own fault really. Im meant to be getting myself re-prescribed onto them, this time not fucking around. But after a night of not sleeping, even just the one can wear you out if you know what i mean?
Its 8am right now Dr's office opens in an hour and its not far from here, its in walking distance. I haven't slept since saturday though and i just keep feeling like i wanna sleep first, ya know? And having a cold just makes it worse, cuz i can barely breathe now. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it kinda makes me feel like i dont wanna do anything untill i've got some sleep. It's abit like a battle of wills - against myself?
Haha i'm sure you know what i mean though.
I lack the will to do ANYTHING today.
What time is it where you are?

I am so fortunate not to have those problems. Occassionally I have a bout of insomnia but I usually just take a Tylenol PM. Although bogo's way sounds good too.

so did u see your doctor bums? thtas right it could be a blood problem, or u might be depressed or stressed, sometimes when u have lots of things to worry about or do u get that kind of problems, and when u have nothing to do too, i mean when nothing happens in your life (like working, studying, taking care of someone or something)... so it might be something else, but u gotta see your doctor hope everything is doing better now, ELVA

I've always had some sort of sleeping issue, the type has changed a few times #meh# for a while it was never being able to fall asleep but now with a little music I fall asleep pretty quick, but here's my schedule bed at 11:00pm, sleep at 11:20-40pm wake up at 2:00-2:50am--stay awake, sometimes drift off a little, but not for long at all--read clock saying around 4:20-45am(yes every night, i thought that was weird) alarm goes off at 5:30...I fail to fall back asleep #eyes# I was thinking it might be because my medicine but that makes me tired not not tired. either way it sucks, I asked my mom to make a doctors appointment but she forgot #meh#

I hardly sleep as it is... and then to go with it, I'm a lucid dreamer.. so sometimes the dreams are a little TOO real :-p Fortunately I've got meds to help me sleep. Hope you get a better night's sleep soon!

yeah, It's hell, I get up at 5:30, walk to school at 8:30, walk back home, then to school for lunch and back home again...plus the learning in between...and the dealing with my mother and sister being annoying...I though it was supposed to be the annoying younger sister I've also been sleeping on a poorly taken care of 6 or 7 yearold metal frame futon #sigh# but it's not because of the bed though but I'm getting a new bed soon #balloons#

Yeah I had sleep problem and constant headaches so I had got drug addiction. I had to leave the job too which made my life so tough. But then my parents took me to virginia opiate addiction treatment center. They helped me a lot to deal with it.

What I do to fall asleep:
1_ find a room that's at least 70 degrees or colder.
2_ use one pillow so I'm as flat as possible but my head is supported.
3_ take melatonin
4_ try and keep my schedule consistent
What I do when I wake up in the middle of the night:
1_ use the bathroom
2_ take a benadryl
3_ try and think about how grateful I am for everything good in my life
My success rate varies. Usually, if I have a crap night a decent one will follow because I'm more tired. Thing is, I get up at 6am for work. I feel if I was able to go to bed later and up later, I'd sleep better. Optimum sleep times seem can't be the same for everyone.
