Hi paulie, Welcome to the Blind Melon Family, I'm glad you found your way here too ;D! You are a very Lucky guy, I, never had the Privilege to Experience Blind Melon, back in the day . Do you have any cool tidbits or anything to share about a show/shows you attended? I would love to hear about it.

Hi all,
Yes, I saw them once in the UK at Milton Keynes Bowl when they supported GNR. I remember The Cult and Soul Asylum were on the bill. I had bought the debut and loved it. I was 22 or 23 at the time and really into grunge, but being the UK, it was still not that big all this alternative rock at the time and Nirvana hadn't yet headlined the Reading Festival (where Kurt comes on stage in the wheelchair)...
Anyways, I was young and unhappy and couldn't stop playing 'Change' - I enjoyed 'Rain' as it was all over the airwaves but I found other gems on the album that others around me didn't get. The hooks weren't blatant enough for them. At the gig I pushed to the front (well, a few heads back) and Melon came on and started with (I think) 'I Wonder'. Shannon was shirtless and with cargo-pants and boots and he jumped and jumped high again and again. The sound fizzled a bit but no big dramas. I loved the vibe, but around me all the metal heads didn't get it. Back then in the UK hardly anyone I knew had MTV or any other means than the radio or the odd section on certain different bands outside the mainstream that popped up on the TV now and again. So exposure could have been a problem. I knew the album and 'Rain' charted well though. But people seemed unwilling to dig deeper.
To be honest, I got pretty stoned, so I remember the songs as feelings rather than blow by blow accounts.
As with all of us, life takes us to places that are unexpected. Shortly after that gig I moved to Australia where there may have been more appreciation of the band. I'm 41 now and love the albums, Shannon's acoustic stuff. I've got all the major boots, but can't say I really got into 'For My Friends' - not because it was a bad piece of work, but because I was/am moved by Shannon's voice, it's brokeness and honesty.
I've heard rumours online that they reformed line-up may be gigging in Australia - any truth in this? I've checked out the yearly Shannon gathering on youtube and would love to get there one day.
I mean, think about it, the guy died what, 16 years ago? The debut is nearly 20 years old - fuck - there was something around this band and Shannon that keeps us all coming back for more.
Respects!
Paulie
