fleshermelon thanks for being cool about it, i don't remember saying anything about whether he was under the influnce or not, i could care less, i know what your saying about smaller venues and whatnot but every band wants that revenue stream no matter who you are, we as normal people don't just settle for small jobs when more money can be had, regardless i am not them nor do i speak for them, but i do think there is some underlining things that as fans we need to understand, do remember there is about a 20 yr difference in ages in the band with travis, so they are at different levels of their lives as well. but thanks for at least not going off on my post i respect that.

I saw 3 shows on the '07-'08 tour and all pulled in very respectable-sized crowds. Other bands from that time period are playing similar size venues and playing to similar size crowds (ie - Spacehog). Unfortunately, I'm not sure that even if Shannon were still alive and Blind Melon put out a reunion album with him in 2011 it would sell millions of copies and they'd headline arena shows. Music is an ever-changing landscape and very, very few bands have sustainable longevity. I'm just happy to hear the old and the new, to see the guys live, have a chance to chat with them before or after a show. It's the same old Blind Melon to me - with the obvious exception being Shannon being gone - they've always looked out for their fans, always been "one" with the fans, and in '07-'08, nothing had changed.

The Soundwave, Splendor in the Grass or Big Day Out festivals in Australia would be ideal! I don't know the names of many others over the world, but if Australia has ones such as those that I listed above, there has got to be a whole bunch that Melon could jump on overseas! I think that is the logical next step for the reunited band

i do think there is some underlining things that as fans we need to understand, do remember there is about a 20 yr difference in ages in the band with travis, so they are at different levels of their lives as well. While this is true, though closer to 10 yrs difference, I agree they are at different places in life. The guys are married w/kids and TTW is not. I think that may be a small part of what had interfered in that he is young and they've "been there, done that." I also think that despite that age difference they respect his talent and went out of their way to support him when alot of people didn't. Personally I don't think there could be anyone better than Travis for this band. While I love Chris Shinn, I don't feel his voice is right to man the mic for BM. He IS UT all the way and his voice is gorgeous but I think it would not be the right fit. I don't think I could picture ANYONE other than Travis doing this. He has the vocal range and similarity to pull off Shannon's songs yet bring something fresh, passionate and powerful to BM. FMF was a great album and as far as the money thing goes, the guys said everything for them was out of their own pockets which is why they got NO radio play. If this all doesn't scream "WE LOVE OUR FANS!" I don't know what does. Bottom line FOR ME...I love Travis and feel he IS the right man for the job. I love this band and I'm not going anywhere. I would pay to see them play outside a fucking CVS if that was all I could get and my opinion is stated with no disrespect intended toward anyone who feels differently. Just my 2 cents... #hoonsmiley#

Excellent vintage..
I have faith in Travis and even if they don't do what we expect of them, I could live happily with their first 4 albums.
